Where the Stranger's Journey ends
The Slovenian duo Danza Macabra return with Utopian Future, their third EP on Danza Macabra Records. The release comes complete with a weighty remix of the title track by Berlin-based DJ and producer Todd Bodine. Also featured on the EP is the original composition "Vanishing Mediator". Release was already supported by Richie Hawtin, Mandy, Groove Armada, Nick Warren and many others.
Utopian Future, an emotive deep house production, uses winding oscillating synths to slowly build tension until the breakdown, which comes in gently with Detroit style strings. For the remix, Todd Bodine drops a heavier bassline from the jump and uses his acid influences to give the track a darker feel. Vanishing Mediator, on the b-side, is an equally stellar deep house number.
Over the last two years, Edin Cuturic and Martin Rojnik as Danza Macabra have maintained a busy international touring schedule and started their own label, Danza Macabra Records. They use their love of electronic music, deep knowledge of production techniques and wide range of musical influences to express and create their distinct sound. All the while launching new talent and inviting remixers to share their dance, vision and beliefs. This year they have released two EP's on Danza Macabra Records - "Catapult to Paradise" and "Exotic Stranger".
Hailing from Berlin, Todd Bodine is a DJ and producer who has played at clubs all around the world. He has completed two full lengths - "Different Engines", released on Morris Audio in 2005, followed by "Surfaces" one year later on Tresor. In addition, Bodine has released tracks and remixes on Cabinet Records, Highgrade Records, Morris Audio, Tresor Records, Treibstoff Records, Mothership, Immigrant (Manchester) and Sub Conce (Spain). In March 2007, after a year and a half of preparation, Bodine took his career to the next level and performed a live set at Panorama Bar in Berlin. This would be the first of many to follow.
