In the late 1600's William Doghton (a reknown witch-hunter) visited Salem - Massachusets to investigate the claims of wild dancing, demonic happenings and possesion.
He wrote :
And so they didst speeke of vile and satanic beasts and truly I hath feared what I might find and truly I was to be aghast for it was indeede awful to behold. This rabble, this foul collection of servants of hell were none othere than cats !
The very friende of the witch and a true sign of beelzebubs participation.
When arriving I founde that the vile beasts had desecrated the church by defecating on the altar and used the verye sign of the cross as a post with which to scratch their very clawes and all the while this mindless noise of theirs to which they refer to as ye bubblegrumm and paw-stamping riddeme. Their wantone rumpus lasted for dayes, their energy no bounds, may ye god preserve me from this mortal sin I see before me.
William Doghton never returned from Salem, to this day - his fate is unknown.
