Vicious Circle:

(IMG:http://www.angeruk.net/images/Artists/20060306913122.jpg)

The 4 man collective known as Vicious Circle began in a flat in South London almost 3 years ago. Born out of a mutual love of all things Drum n Bass and with a wide range of influences ranging from Detroit techno to Motown, this exciting new crew have entered the scene with a bang and intend to continue rocking dance floors with their no holds barred style of deep dark future funk. Inspired by the futuristic techy styles of the late 90's coming from the likes of Bad Company, Konflict and the Virus/Prototype camp's, Vicious Circle set about crafting there own distinct sound and networking with artists worldwide. Arriving at the Miami Winter Music Conference in March 04 armed with a handful of cd's, the crew were pleasantly surprised to find their early work getting heavy Dj support from some of the scenes biggest names like Pendulum, Technical Itch and Keaton. Upon returning to the UK it was clear that now was the time to take the next step…..

The big break came when Universal Project, impressed with what they were hearing, offered the team their choice of remix from the UP back catalogue. Underground anthem 'Jackhammer' originally released on Loxys 'Cylon' imprint was their choice and the results were devastating! So much so in fact that legendary label Renegade Hardware were soon calling and before long Vicious Circle's remix was signed to Hardware as part of UP's 'Black Techno EP'. Heavy support followed across the scene from the likes of Friction, Pendulum, Loxy, Dylan, Baron, Raiden, Dieselboy and many more Dj's worldwide and by the time the EP was released in October 2004 other labels were looking towards VC's remix talents as well as showing interest in the groups original material.

Promoters were also starting to take note. Residencies at nights such as Repercussion and Ambush and bookings at high profile events like Renegade Hardware at the End and Anger Managements Therapy Sessions gave the crew the chance to unleash their rolling thunder on audiences around the country. A Vicious Circle Dj set is a blend of the most cutting edge dubs from all over the world mixed up with a few stone cold classics and is guaranteed to get the dancefloor rocking.

So into 2005 and so far its been a big one the Circle, kicking off with an appearance in ATM magazine and an hour long guest slot on BBC Radio 1xtra adding to the already growing hype surrounding the crew. Releases' wise its been a busy year too kicking off with 'Apparition' (Feat EBK) on Kryptic Minds Defcom label, followed by the minimal tech funk of 'Doomtrain' on Renegade Hardware's 'Guerrilla Warfare LP' and the crews twisted remix of breaks don ILS single 'Cherish' on Distinctive. Also about to drop are 'Shadrock' feat. Corrupt Souls and 'The Grudge' with Chase & Status both on Renegade Hardware and of course the massive club smasher 'Hellrazor' with Universal Project on UP Recs.

RAIDEN:

(IMG:http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n304/RaidenOffKey/tmpphpRWOXI0.jpg)

(IMG:http://www.angeruk.net/images/Artists/20060404946177.jpg)

Raiden, aka Jarman has a background in music that combines tonal savagery and intricate grooves; his first public outings in the world of music were fronting a hardcore band in 94. Always a man on the look-out for new ideas, someone played him some No U-turn tunes in 97, and suddenly everything changed, the bass was exchanged for the complex depths of Logic Audio, and the sound that defines him began to coalesce. A year of careful listening and research, a small tour of German squat-party venues, and then, in 98, he leapt straight into the relentless production schedule that is another one of his trademarks. Getting DJ slots by playing d&b sets at open-minded techno nights, he found he loved the timbres of techno, but couldnt shake his passion for a rolling break and conveyor belt basslines. He resolved to meld the two into a sound that growls like a crack-crazed pitbull, before sinking in its teeth with a grip that locks on and never lets go.

He studied at the I.M.T. in London for a year, and this led to a work placement at Airtight Studios, where he met DJ Nu Balance and DJ Friction, and began writing tunes for their label Transparent. The first of these was hugely sucessful \'Cenobyte ep\', featuring the crushing \'Bulldoze\'. Released at the end of 2k2 and played by such luminaries as Trace,Bad Company Kemal, Keaton, Technical Itch, Mampi Swift, Friction and Usual Suspects.

Renegade Hardware approached Raiden in mid 2k2. His debut release Fallin became a massive tune, being voted no.18 in the best tune awards of 2002 by Muzik Magazine. Fallin was also featured on the cover cd of November 2002 mixmag, which lead to wider exposure and more media attension. More epic cuts were planned for 2003, including \'All out war\' Followed by his deubt Renegade Hardware e.p featuring \'Infection, 6ft Ditch, Falling(Friction and Nu Balance remix)and React\'. Pigalle(Feat)Flow, and Pitbull Attack / Mindbomin as the launch release for TOV\'s new label Barcode as well as Pinball and a relentless rmx of his own Bulldoze on transparent. All recieving much support from some of the scenes biggest guns. He is also about launch is own label Off-Key recording to hoost his extremist brand of techno tinged funk.

This has resulted in Raiden being booked for Dj sets as far afield as the USA, South Africa, Israel, Japan, France, Beligum, Holland, Norway, Austria, Germany as well as many critically aclaimed club nights in London such as Calsh of the Titans and Angermangments \'Therapy sessions\'. He is also a resident at the legendry Renegade Hardware nights at the world renouned End club in Central London, this is where Raiden first discovered the love for twisted basslines and frantic beats. Many people regard the End as spirtual home of Drum and Bass,in the same way that Detroit is to Techno.

Raidens ideal is progressive music with a beginning, middle and end, but retaining the off-key hooks, the ability to shock. The end result sounds a little (but not quite) like Axis remixing No U-Turn (or vice versa); heavy rolling tech-step breaks, vicious synth head noises, and basslines that you could mistake for seismic events. His ascent though the scene has been an unprecedented success, this rise is far from over, you have been warned!

Raiden's fusion of techno and drum and bass has been an inspiration to many producers for years and is one of the most exciting pioneers/representatives of the techno drum and bass movement. Raiden is now ready to unleash his long waited live set across the Globe for the first time.
Over the last year Raiden has been pushing his 3 decks lock groove sets so to futher this idea, Raiden has developed a live set which is somewhere in between Djing and a live P.A. Songs and loops are mashed together utilising Raiden's production talents in a live environment. Expect mind bending hypnotic loops, not limited by the generic tempo of dnb, and live remixing of old and brand new material from the whole genre of electronic Music in a DnB format.

This OffKey Podcast gives you a small preview of his live set and some of his latest productions.

DYLAN:

(IMG:http://www.angeruk.net/images/Artists/20060306753133.jpg)

The Sultan of Sickness, Dylan needs no introduction when it comes to drum & bass. The past few years have seen this top DJ and Producer go from absolute strength to strength, not only producing consistently, but consistently good; proving him to be, without a doubt, one of the hottest talents in the scene.

Dylan began back in the Electro era buying records and mixing them up on a couple of budget turntables, He then followed the music and studied all the different genres, evolving from Electro to Hip Hop to House and finally, his life…Drum n' Bass! Taking the obvious first step, Dylan played on the London pirate radio scene with long time friend B Key for many years. His shows were legendary, with exclusive track selections and plenty of added humour to keep the listeners entertained (…Dylan is definitely known as the prankster to his friends!). Dylan decided to turn his twisted mind to the production side of things, scraping the money together for his first studio set up, and started to master the sampler and computer with B Key. They would spend every hour possible getting to grips with the equipment, and soon had some tracks complete - which they played to Danny Breaks. This lead to the debut releases of Kosmos "Tighten Up" and "Liquid Beats". By then, Dylan had definitely caught the bug and hasn't looked back since. He has continued to produce killer after killer including the anthem "Need You" with Ink, The"Inferno EP,Dominion and Penitentiary to name a few. Releasing on renown labels such as Metalheadz,Renegade Hardware, Outbreak, Cylon, Timeless, Moving Shadow, Droppin' Science, Architecture, Musica, Biotic, XXX and has collaborated with a slew of top producers in the scene including Technical Itch, Friction,Paradox, as well as his own projects 'Faith in Chaos' alongside Robyn Chaos, and 'The Four Horsemen' together with Loxy, Keaton, and Ink.

This past year has been a very busy one for Mr Dylan, with the conception of his first solely owned label "Freak Recordings" responsible for some of the years hottest releases such as Knowledge Award winner Dkay's "Be There 4 U" and "Martians" as well as Mason featuring Armanni Reign and Sharpness MC "Ruff Rugged and Raw". 2004 also sees Dylan taking his place among the mighty soldiers of the legendary Metalheadz imprint with tracks "Metaphor" and "Lost Dreams" an honour for someone so consistently inspired by the label's releases over the years. Dylan and Robyn Chaos (Anger Management) also started up the now internationally renown "Therapy Session's" in London's Shoreditch, East End, without a doubt providing some of the deadliest mid week line-ups a junglist could ever wish for (for a price so reasonable, it's practically theft!).

From his residency at the Renegade Hardware nights at The End in Central London, to across the U.S., South Africa, All over Europe, Puerto Rico and, of course, the U.K., Dylan's djing has been consistently crippling dancefloors for years. His style ranges from demented darkness to ghetto funk, always retaining those trademark hard-driving, solid beats. The first releases from Freak Recordings twisted sister label "Obscene Recordings" and "Intasounds" (Alongside 1Xtra's Bailey) already have the drum and bass public in a frenzy! After the rock and roll exploits of the XXX 29 date US "Technical Freaks" Tour earlier this year alongside partner in grime Technical Itch, and the WMC live show with Faith In Chaos in Miami, 2004 will see Dylan signing new exciting international talent for his labels, releasing the Technical Freaks Album in late May, producing more sickness himself, and of course DJing solidly all over the World. PHEW!! Always the one to watch out for, Dylan continues to produce an onslaught of discothËque destroyers for your listening pleasure….
