John Tejada:

Normally associated with his peers in Techno from Detroit, Europe and elsewhere in the US and the world, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal frontier, expanding on his formidable resume as a Techno recording artist as producer and remixer, DJ, and label owner. With dozens of singles, remixes, some film and TV work and contributions to sample CDs to his credit, this recent expansion has born a slew of tracks deeply informed by his uncompromised aesthetic honed over years of diligent production which finds its roots in Detroit Techno but references a far broader range of music, both in and outside of electronic music. His musically formative years were steep in Classical music, growing up in family of performing artists--his mother a soprano singer and his father a conductor which then widened to include hip hop, DJing and finally, electronic music.
Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from chilled out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo. Earlier on, his music found release on labels such as A13, Multiplex and Generation R&S. Following on to those successes, he established his own imprint, Palette, in Los Angeles, in 1996, and has enjoyed years of steady growth and recognition. The label has served as an exclusive outlet for his own prodigious output but has recently begun to expand its roster. He has also continued to record for other labels such as Pokerflat, Plug Research, Seventh City, Playhouse and others, often in collaboration since 1991 with Arian Leviste, and alongside these numerous singles, has also produced albums for Playhouse, Palette, Plug Research, deFocus, Moods and Grooves, Immigrant and A13 .

Justin Maxwell:

Blah blah blah look at me, I'm so famous. In 1874, I invented music. Then, while rubbing a carrot with granddad George's shark foot, I proceeded to invent house music, followed by techno, and then electroclash. That last one sure was a winner! Hot damn.
Book me for a live act, review my album, talk about how innovative I am, ok, go on and on. Please. I need it. My friends all make fun of me because of my irritable vowel syndrome. It's horrible, but you know how friends are. Or not. No, you probably don't.
Brief history: Music in the family (dad plays a mean blues guitar and grandpa Jimmy Maxwell is a legendary jazz trumpet player). Freshman year of college he bought an Alpha Juno from Matt Haines, beginning a quest to amass a ridiculous collection of vintage analogue gear. After years of sound design exploration, hearing damage and angry neighbors, he put out a few crappy psychedelic trance releases and did some live sets under the name "Stupid Octave Cat". Please take a moment now to laugh and make a few "Goa" jokes. Ok, cool. It's ok. He's seen those pictures of you wearing candy bracelets and holding an Elmo doll, so now you're even. Moving on...
Cut to rockin' 1999, or as he likes to call it, "Rockin' 1999." Maxwell and Jean-Paul Bondy team up as Volsoc. After kicking ass all over the electro scene for a few years, Maxwell is scouted by John Tejada's A&R representative, John Tejada, who knows talent when he sees it. Not seeing any in Justin's work, Tejada offered to put out his records. And the rest is history! Or, the rest will be history! Right now! It's happening! You are in the middle of an electronic music revolution, simply by reading this page!
