LOCAL RECORDS LAUNCHES ITS FIRST TWO EPs: BOGDAN AND MINUS
a Romanian electronic music label
LabelNOTLabel

LOCAL RECORDS is a fresh Romanian electronic music platform, which promotes, of course, local electronic music producers thus helping to shape a better local Romanian sound. Today it launches its second EP – 95 - signed by Minus. This EP follows Bogdan’s June release, Human Thermodynamics.
So far, Local has signed Romanian artists such Alien Pimp, Bogdan, Candlestickmaker, Cosmin TRG, Cristi Cons, Discoballs, Inner, Makunouchi Bento, Minus&Ion, The Model, Poor Relatives, Silent Strike, Sillyconductor and Suie Paparude. We expect and hope to add to all these a new artist every month.
For the past 15 years, the Romanian electronic music scene improved its attitude and artistic awareness. We believe its high time to focus on the essence of a music scene, its producers. Until now, they have been working by themselves and they used to share their music to a very small audience. The public is not aware of their existence and does not perceive them as an artistic movement of any kind. This lack of
communication combined with a lack of growing opportunities (such as the chance to be heard by a bigger audience, to have local and international success, to be appreciated, supported and promoted) discourages any future music enthusiast who is thinking about taking this path.
Enter LOCAL RECORDS – an electronic music promoting platform that will make Romanian works available to both a local and an international audience, in a coherent and systematic way and in an updated shape than previously attempted by any other label. LOCAL RECORDS wants to create an artistic community based on shared interests and to discover a new Romanian sound by encouraging producers who currently don’t
have the stimuli to persevere and reach the next level.
LOCAL RECORDS is an atypical label because it does not sell music, it just promotes it. We don’t work with money, we work with enthusiasm. Enter this beautiful new world in which music wants to be free and money flows through other opportunities. LOCAL RECORDS is working along the Romanian Organization for User Rights (ORDU), an NGO that fights for free internet sharing and the use of open licensing. This is why LOCAL
RECORDS works under a Creative Commons license. The LOCAL RECORDS releases will be digital, for the general public, available for download on www.localrec.ro, and in limited hard copy, available for promotion.
