?It?s the simple things that matter. You?ve probably spotted this motto, maybe a bit
rephrased, in a ton of ads. Indeed, being able to appreciate simple things in life is a big
deal. But what if simplicity is a train you?ve missed, like some of us have? This question
fuels my thoughts when I?m listening to Lemon Kiss. The strangest thing is that between
the dub atmospherics, intricate sampling work and lush synthlines of this album, the
answer to the above question is partially revealed to me. I can?t say it?s a happy one. It
feels sad but warm, painful but valuable, fucked up but liberating. Big Fat Lips, with a
little help from Sister Overdrive, has given a justification for the melancholy in my
thoughts.?
Big Fat Lips is the moniker under which Nikos Mardakis writes and performs music using his
computer and occasionally his electric guitar. Memoryformat proudly presents his debut
album. Slow-paced, with rhythms created out of digital debris and an evident dub vibe, this
album is a perfect soundtrack for a trip inside oneself.
