Pressetext:

On the 17th of August, Bassline Magazine will bring you the sixth annual Summer Of Love Open air electronic festival, which is one of the most prestigious and followed events of this year. This long tradition began in 1997 on the summer site of Scojsice. In those days, it was more or less only an underground party. The following year, however, Summer of Love '98
was the first real summer open air festival in the Czech Republic, winning "Festival of the Year '98" in Trip2House magazine. 3500 ravers came to Summer of Love '98 and almost 6000 to Summer of Love '99, almost a hundred foreign DJs and groups, from these most are now international superstars, and many times this was their first Czech performance ? Matthew Bushwacka, CJ Bolland, Steve Stoll, Danny Howells and many more. It was those two years
which remained in the minds of the Czech Club Generation, as well deserved legends.

In the year 2000, the whole festival moved to the beach at Lake Macha and became massive, with the arrival of approximately 10,000 ravers. The forth Summer Of Love saw the musical talents of Space DJz, ScanX, Marco Zaffarano, Nils Hess, Corvin Dalek... and once again became the event of the year for
the Czech dance music scene.

Last year, Summer of Love moved to the exclusive Pardubice Horse Race Course, home of the famous Steeplechase. Over 10 000 clubbers took part in the first 24 hour dance marathon, which in the new Horse Race area, gained an unforgettable and magical atmosphere. For the first time the festival offered not only a fully equipped party, from bars to space, but most of all a wide choice of musical styles on four stages. DJs included Luke Slater,
Surgeon, Ian Void, Nathan Coles, ScanX, Tim Taylor, Marco Lenzi...

So we meet again for the sixth time in the year 2002 and it's about time we introduced how it's going to look this year, what will take place, and who you'll hear. Musically, Summer Of Love always was of a high quality; this year's Summer of Love 2002 will once again have a strong and quality line-up,
compiling of concerts and DJs, which our Bassline Magazine reports talked about most in
the past year and this is why we'd like to bring their talent and music to a Czech and Slovak audience.

Our 24 hour musical marathon will take place on nearly 4 large and a number of small stages. There'll be 20 live concerts and over 60 DJs, with styles from the ever popular techno and electro, to house, chill out, jungle, hip hop and other alternative styles.

Headlining this year will be the greatly respected American producer, DJ, and re-mixer, Alan Curtis Jones, which the whole world now knows as Green Velvet. From the mid 90s, he has been producing one hit after another,
Flash, Answering Machine, Coitus, The Stalker, Land Of The Lost... But only last year did he fall among the stars ? his single Flash, remixed by Timo Maas, became one of the biggest hits of the year 2000 and his October
release, La La Land, became an instant hit for autumn/winter, and won "most successful dance single 2001" all over the world, includeing in Bassline. In May, La La Land will be re-released, with a host of new re-mixes. Also,
both of Green Velvet's albums gained the attention it deserved, whether it was the industrial techno album Constant Chaos from the year '99 or the most recent from last year, Whatever, which is the main reason for headlining Green Velvet at Summer of Love this year.

At his show, be prepared for not only maximum energy, but prepare your ears and eyes for a maximum electrotechnopunkindustrialhardcore show. Whoever saw at least a bit of his set from this year's Mayday, already knows why Green Velvet will be at Summer of Love. We are not responsible for possible loss of hearing, sight, or mind!!!

You might think that you've heard all the best techno already, because there're only a few superstar DJs and producers who play all around the world at the biggest festivals and parties, but you couldn't have heard them
here. Billy Nasty is one of them, all efforts have been taken to bring him
over up to now have failed thanks to him being completely booked. The quality of one of the pioneers has had a lot to do with what is today called techno and his label Tortured/Electrix is one of the most influential. He's so small, that he is almost lost behind the turntables, but his hard and
uncompromising techno, full of breakdowns and many surprises will make you want to jump to see him.... Together will Billy Nasty will be his faithful comrades Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire, here being the mega-popular, Space
DJz. Last year's mixCD, The Last DJz on Earth, became a bestseller, this year's spring party, Unity, in Chuchle amazed and so there is nothing left to do but look forward to their ONLY 4deckz & 2mixerz & samplerz show in
Central Europe this year! And be sure, that Billy won't stand aside!

Final Scratch is a well discussed new technology, which nearly every real clubber as encountered in magazines. Richie Hawtin and Jim Masters were the company who created this revolutionary item first for presentation to the world. Richie will once again not be joining us, but Jim Masters is our good friend and so not only will hear and on a large video-projection see the use of Final Scratch from one of its creators, but mainly look forward
to the late afternoon workshop where Jim will demonstrate Final Scratch to those interested, and you too can have a try.

The morning set at Summer of Love is always the most enchanting and this years sun will rise to Ian Void. Last year he literally set us alight, this year he'll introduce his new album (produced by Dave Clarke), so we can
expect 100% blazing morning madness with our hands in the air!

Hardcell became one of the biggest finds of last year and his Swedish, of the wall, uncompromising techno set could be heard by fans at Svojsice 2001 or December's Apocalypse. His mixCD Evil Deceptions also got us going, and in our opinion was last years best hard techno CD.

It isn't really worth introducing the French project ScanX. He belongs among the most popular artists ever to have played in the Czech Republic and is one, who managed to play at Summer of Love three times in a row, and thanks to the Czech fans, in May he was placed in the line-up for this year. Even Austrian DJ Felip is not a new name here and how he mixed the Summer of Love CD for Bassline's May issue, gives us the impression that he will get us moving.

So far the biggest secret is the C. Lounge stage, where you can expect a really quality and strong line-up, made up of house, tech-house and chill-out names from the rest of the world, and here.

This year's Summer of Love Is relying also on Czech and Slovak groups and DJs, the best playing at the best times. Ethnotrancetechno group Hypnotix, thanks to last year's album Kumah (Spirit Of The World) and remix of the
album Kumah, became on of the attractions of the year, and we're very happy that for the first time we will be able to hear them at Summer of Love.

Also taking part will be the No.1 Czech DJ, Orbith and the popular lady DJ Ladida, along with most other good and interesting DJs from the Czech Republic and Slovakia - Agent, Kaisersoze, Boss, Tibor, Daho, Pavel Krejdl,
Orion, Koogi, Babe LN, Katcha and many more.... >From the concerts we can name at least Over3, Blow, Space Junkie, Sundreams and Soundphreakers.

The afternoon hours will belong to new faces to the Czech Techno scene, whichh we have picked form Demoline and DJ at Work in Bassline Magazine.

Last year's success was the tiny little podium belonging to U Merkura Soundsystem, surprising not only us, so the Merkur crew will be back this year. With them will be many other mini-stages, for example, from the dance programme, 4Fresh, and others.

We shall announce other artists in the media, on the internet, and on the official site at: www.summeroflove.cz.

Summer Of Love is not only a music event, so we will, of course, put together a whole assisting program, workshops, CD outlets, magazines, gift and glow-stick outlets, 150 metre bar, high capacity cloakroom area, enough toilets and hygienic systems, first aid, an ecstasy testing centre, and others...
