Jay Shepheard (Retrofit, Compost, Buzzin' Fly) Having just completed his first tour of Australia, recently released records on Buzzin Fly, Dirt Crew and Compost Black Label, launched his own new label project, and signed up with the new Secretsundaze booking agency, 2010 sees a strong start for Jay Shepheard! Following a long background in music from playing in high school bands to working in music PR and several years working at UK online music store Juno, Jay Shepheard first arrived on the scene in 2007 with the release of his debut EP "Black Label #19" on Compost. Strong DJ support for the EP gave Jay a good profile straight off the bat, which was built upon nicely with the follow-up EPs "Black Label 28", released in December 07 and "Black Label 34" in June 08. These first EPs received critical acclaim from DJs, music lovers and the press alike and earned Jay a nomination for Best Deep House act of 2007 in the Beatport Music Awards. Now, over two years since the debut, Jay Shepheard is firmly established as a leading player in the new wave of electronic music. In 2008 and 2009 Jay has been branching out from his home label at Compost to release original productions and remixes on high profile labels including Diynamic, Four:Twenty, Glimpse and Juno. These releases have consistently found thier way into the best seller lists of all the major stores as well as the charts of A list DJs. The most recent release on Compost Black Label (out Nov 09) earning a number 1 chart position from Steve Bug. Moving into 2010 Jay launches his own label imprint Retrofit. With an ear for the past and an eye on the future the label will marry classic electronic musical themes of acid house, disco, vintage techno and anything in between with current dance floor sound and concepts. The first release, a 4 tracker from Jay, is out Febuary 2010 with some hot collaborations to follow later in the year. Outside of the studio Jay has also built a reputation in the booth, playing both DJ and live sets all over Europe in some of the leading venues including Fabric in London, Goa in Madrid, Watergate in Berlin and Monza in Frankfurt to name just a few.
