Chris Carrier Bio:

There are two kinds of DJs: those whose goal is to make a name for themselves and those whose goal is to make music - and let the rest follow. Parisian Chris Carrier is among the latter. For more than a dozen years he's been an underground icon, churning out more than one hundred records and remixes for a host of labels. Too busy working to chase a spot in the limelight, Carrier is nevertheless rightly revered as one of the most gifted, prolific producers on the dance scene. Refusing to restrict his output to one genre or one school of thought, Carrier has dabbled freely in everything from house to hip hop, drum 'n'bass to minimal, techno to electro. Most DJ shave one label - if at all - but Chris is so restlessly creative he's founded a whole fistful of labels over the course of his career, including the renowned Adult Only imprint, Chronobrain, Combustible, Taka, X86 and Direct Art. He has also worked under more than a fifteen aliases. However, youthful notions of being a baker ("I like cakes," he says) lost out to music when he discovered the early 90s techno rave scene and began to DJ. Driven to be the master of his musical destiny, Chris quickly learned to produce and created pioneering techno outlet Chronobrain with Guillaume La Tortue. For seven-odd years Chris devoted himself the label, and its offshoots including house-oriented Taka and drum 'n' bass imprint X86.However, his love for rave culture led him back towards more purely creative work. From 2003 onwards Chris has founded new labels Adult Only and Catwash, as well as bringing his vision to Get Physical, Crack & Speed, Brique Rouge, Robsoul, Kill Brique and - most recently - Freak n' Chic. This has put the underground star firmly in the forefront of the new French electronic movement, bringing his diverse style to the sexy, deep, techy house vibes that dominate the scene. Chris is more sought-after than ever for his DJ skills - he's penetrated the
notorious US market with gigs in Georgia, San Francisco, Denver, Las Vegas and Miami. And plays in Europe's clubbing capitals: London, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam and Milan, to name a few. Look out for his gigs, and Chris's forthcoming remix of Matthew Dear's Dog Days - the first of many exciting projects for this unique artist in 2008.

Hailing from Paris via London via Istanbul, don’t call our multi-instrumentalist French. Born and raised in Istanbul, studied in London, and relocated to Paris in 2005, Tolga Fidan considers himself Turkish above all else.

At just 14, Tolga was playing bass and guitar in post rock bands. Always drawn to experimental music, he was taken with the sounds of Sonic Youth, Autechre, Pansonic, and Austrian experimentalists Fennesz. From this past, Tolga’s musical interest organically morphed into deep techno, signed exclusively with Vakant, and became the label’s youngest-ever artist.

Since breaking into the electronic dance music consciousness with his first ever release "Now I’m Weak EP" on Vakant (VA009) in 2006, he has earned the esteem of fans and techno heavyweights the world over in record time. Perhaps even more freaky, his lush and beautifully produced debut EP was created from the most modest bedroom studio means and mixed on headphones costing less than a round of late night drunken kebabs. Almost instantly this EP got the attention of people like Sven Vath. From there, in 2007 Tolga released "Venice / Tanbulistan EP" (VA014) to critical appeal. Unprecedentedly a track from both his first 2 EPs was licensed to Cocoon for their seventh and eighth season Ibiza mix compilations.

Continuing his exclusive roll on Vakant, Tolga most recently let loose his third installment "All Pleasure Is Relief EP" (VA018), a moving, evolving, and sprawling electronic soundscape. This last work perhaps best illustrates the breadth of Tolga scope incorporating a multi ethnic feel, showcasing his musicality, and redrawing techno boundaries.

Together with Vakant, Tolga Fidan’s bottomless sound, constantly morphing arrangement, and eclectic sound design that somehow points towards the orient have taken him so far in so little time.

Tatsächlich haben wir nach mehr als 3 Jahren das erste mal Urlaub gemacht und einen Monat lang pausiert. Und während wir irgendwo in Südfrankreich vergeblich versucht haben die Kunst des Surfens zu erlernen überkam uns die große Sehnsucht nach der Tante Pompadour. Also gab es nur eine Lösung. Koffer packen und ab nach Hause! Weil man ohne Geschenk nicht heimkehren soll, haben wir gleich 2 Franzosen mitgenommen. Euch und uns beschenken wir am 8.10 beim nächsten Club Pompadour mit Chris Carrier und Tolga Fidan live.

Chris Carrier ist ein Pariser Urgestein in Sachen House und Techno. Seit den 90 Jahren ist er ein Vollblut Produzent und Dj. Unzählige Produktionen darf er sein eigen nennen. Dafür hergehalten haben Labels wie Get Physical, Robsoul, Crack & Speed, Silvernetwork und auch Freak n´Chic aber auch, wie könnte es auch anders sein, seine Haus & Hof Label´s „Adult Only & Catwash“
2010 war dann ein ganz besonders Jahr. Sein Album „Gosse de Paris“ erschien auf Robsoul. Egal ob Disco, ob Deep, ob Vorwärts. 1,2,3, es ist einfach alles dabei und das in einer unnachahmlichen Art und Weise, wie man es schon lange nicht mehr Gehört hat.

Tolga Fidan gehört zu der nächsten Generation von Techno-und House-Live-Acts. In der Türkei aufgewachsen, in London studiert, lange in Paris gelebt und nun in Berlin ansässig – internationaler geht’s wohl nicht. Seit seinem ersten Release auf VAKANT im Jahre 2006 ist er in aller Munde. Seine Live-Sets bewegen sich über viele Einflüsse und Soundstile hinweg und vereinen sie wieder zu einem grandiosen Tanzgemisch, der sich deutlich vom Einheitsbrei abhebt. Auf seinen EP’s hört man deutlich seine Herkunft, wenn er seine Grooves mit Flöten, Lauten, Perkussion und Mundharmonika Klängen untermalt.

Support kommt von Madam´s Lieblingen, Thomas Grün & Philipp Blecha und auch der verrückte mit 3 Tagesbart, Crazy Sonic gibt sich endlich wieder die Ehre.
Der 2 te Floor steht ganz im Zeichen von Millhouse, einer Partyreihe von KidM (Kultur in der Mühle). Die Millhouse-Residents Michael Lagler, Mia Rabe & Maximilian Grün repräsentieren die Truppe, die seit mehreren Jahren in einer alten Mühle in St.Veit/Glan, Kärnten für aussergewöhnliche Parties sorgen. Und wer weiß, vielleicht schaut auch Don Quichotte auf einen Tanz vorbei!
