He’s an alchemist specialized in melting many styles down, mixing them and producing some of the most addictive bass-heavy riddims around. His live sets are furious, massive and set the dancefloor on fire. It’s the perfect soundclash of live drumming and electronic beats with the incredible contribution of long time collaborators Christian Olsen (drums) and Face-T (vocals). A master in the art of making people move in his DJ sets, Poirier spin music that flows effortlessly from dancehall, dubstep, global urban beats, electro, soca and much more. He based and masterminded his sets in Montréal at his sold out party « Bounce le Gros » for two years. In the past Poirier has collaborated with MC’s and DJ’s from across the globe, working with NYC’s resident Large cats Beans (Warp) and dj/rupture (Tigerbeat6), as well as Parisian heavy weights TTC (Big Dada), Chicago’s MC Zulu and London’s Lotek Hi-Fi (Big Dada) amongst others. Poirier has become renowned globally for his bass slammin remixes that continue to further solidify his title as “king of the bounce”. He has remixed tracks for UK grime/hip hop sensation Lady Sovereign (Def Jam), Bassnectar, Pole, Buck 65, The Editors, Champion, all to much critical acclaim and garnering him attention from publications such as pitchforkmedia.com , The Wire and XLR8R Magazine. In 2005 Poirier decided to throw down his own successful monthly DJ night in Montreal, BOUNCE LE GROS. An evening that featured what Poirier described as “Bass and no attitude“. Poirier’s night of genre Mashing provided ebough bass to fill the place, attracting a mixed crowd that appreciate his dirty style, tasty beats and eclectic flare. In 2007-2008 Poirier released the album ‘No Ground Under’ on Ninja Tune. The record was well received by the public and press alike, and as a result he toured in North America and Europe several times.
