Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
liebe Partner,

die Kultstaette Rainberg nimmt mit 1.2.2009 den Betrieb auf.

Die Kultstaette Rainberg befindet sich im Rainbergkeller in der Leopoldskronstrasse 5 im Stadtteil Riedenburg. Im Rainberg, jenem Stadtberg, der wohl der älteste Siedlungsplatz innerhalb des Salzburger Stadtgebietes ist; bereits die Kelten siedelten auf diesem strategisch leicht zu verteidigenden Ort. Aber es waren nicht nur strategische Überlegungen, weshalb die Kelten diesen Ort wählten. Es ist bekannt, dass die Kelten ihre Siedlungs- und Kultstätten auch nach metaphysischen Standpunkten ausgewählt haben und ohne hier ins esoterische abgleiten zu wollen kann zweifelsfrei behauptet werden, dass der Rainberg ein besonderer Ort ist, ein Ort an dem bereits zu keltischen Zeiten kultische Handlungen vorgenommen wurden.

Zur jüngeren Geschichte ist im Salzburger Stadtarchiv folgendes zu finden:

Die Gegend um den Rainbergkeller, genannt Riedenburg, war ein sumpfiges, ödes Gelände, von dem die Chronik zu berichten weiß: Die Pferde sanken bis auf den Bauch ein und verloren im Morast ihre Hufeisen".

1139:
Die "Ritinburg" wird erstmals in einer Urkunde erwähnt. Der Berg selbst hieß vermutlich "die hohe Ritenburg". [Salzburger Urkundenbuch 2, Nr.193]

1525:
Aufständische Bauern besetzen Salzburg und schlagen ihre Lager in der einsamen Gegend "auf der Riedenburg" auf.

1676:
Erstmals finden Überlegungen statt, den Berg zu durchbrechen.

1680:
Der höfische Kammerdiener Christof Rein pachtet die "Hohe Rittenburg". Der Berg wir nach seinem Besitzer benannt.

1688:
Im heutigen Lager wird eine Bierschank eingerichtet, worin sich nun erstmals die Gäste bei Speis und Trank laben können.

1857:
Bauunternehmer beuten den Berg als Steinbruch für verschiedene Eisenbahnbauten aus.

1941:
Exakt am 31. März wird der Berg unter Denkmalschutz gestellt.

1942:
Der Rainberg wird weiter ausgesprengt und soll nun als Luftschutzbunker dienen.


1945:
Amerikanische Truppen errichten kurzfristig ein Sprengstoff- und Munitionslager. Erstmals sind auch schon Räumlichkeiten als Weinkeller zu pachten.

1950:
Wieder soll der Rainberg als Steinbruch dienen.


Zur jüngsten Geschichte ist zu vermerken:

1976:
Auch eine Champignonzucht wurde in diesen Räumlichkeiten bereits versucht.

1981:
Josef Rettenbacher übernimmt den Rainbergkeller. Erlesene Weine und ein reichhaltiges
Buffet erfreuen die in- und ausländischen Gäste.

1994:
Der Cave Club pachtet alle Räume des ehemaligen Luftschutzbunkers und etabliert den mittlerweile ältesten Technoclub der Welt.

2001:
Die Cave Club Gastronomie GmbH wird gegründet und betreibt seither die neu kollautierte Kavernenanlage.

2009:
Den kulturellen Aktivitäten quer durch alle Genres wird mit der neuen Dachmarke „Kultstaette Rainberg“ eine neue organisatorische Plattform gegeben.


Wofür steht die Kultstaette Rainberg?

Die Kultstaette Rainberg soll den kulturellen Aktivitäten im Rainbergkeller ein Gesicht geben. In der Öffentlichkeit wird der Rainbergkeller schlicht als Cave Club wahrgenommen. Die international geachtete Arbeit des Cave Clubs spiegelt jedoch nur einen geringen Teil der gesamten Aktivitäten im Rainbergkeller wieder; in Zahlen ausgedrückt handelt es sich um etwa 30%. Die übrigen kulturellen Aktivitäten finden sich im gesamten Spektrum alternativer Kultur, oder auch Veranstaltungen kommerzieller Kunden aus dem privaten, sowie dem öffentlichen Bereich wieder. Diesen Aktivitäten, diesem Schaffen wird mit der Marke Kultstaette ein eigenständiges Auftreten gegeben.

After playing headline slots next to Dave Clarke at a 25,000 capacity Impulz show in Holland, or playing the main stage at Argentinas Energy Parade hosted by Westbam to a crowd of 100,000, Sterling has certainly shown he is a dj force to be reckoned with. ................................................................................

On the production front, as well as running his 'Sound Lab' studio, Sterling is also an official programmer for Roland Synthesisers, having worked extensively on their MC-909 projects after they were impressed with his use of their vintage TR-909 drum machine. Moss also found UK chart success with the techno anthem R.E.S.P.E.C.T., which appeared on the Nukleuz DJ Nation Bootleg Edition and reached 33 in the UK national charts alongside the likes of Robbie Williams and Eminem! Coupling this with underground credibility such as a collaboration for Apex Recordings finding its way onto Carl Cox's U60311 mix album, it is apparent that Sterling's cutting edge fusion of musical genres has helped to push the perceptive boundaries of musical categories, and to intercept the barriers between scenes, making him a true leader in the future of the global dance scene. ................................................................................

As well as running his own record labels, Racetrax & Bodyshock, Sterling has also worked extensively with event organisers in London helping promote the clubnights 'Tribal' & 'Laboratory', culminating in Laboratory's sell-out 4,500 capacity Brixton Academy show being a massive success. ................................................................................

With years of experience behind him already, Sterling is not only an established DJ, producer and promoter, but the full impact and extent of his talents are yet to come, with a constant desire to push his performance forward technically, to a level no DJ has yet reached, blending production and DJing into a more live based environment. The legend says that MAXX one day in 2001 went to buy 12 records in a shop in Camden, then he went to a friend, who had decks, to listen to them, and the following Saturday he was playing, with only them 12 records, a set of one hour on the bigger sound system in London, Underground Sound System; this with the approval of the legendary DJ of the free party scene, GORDIE! That is actually the truth, but is also true that MAXX was not new to mixing. In fact, even if he had a long break from the music scene (five years to be precise), he already had a long run on the decks, and, under different names, some record productions too. MAXX first got in touch with music at the age of six, thanks to his mum, who wanted him to learn to play the piano. After five years spent studying classical music, he directed his attention to electronic music, and, as a consequence, to electronic instruments. It was in 1985 that he had his first spin on a pair of belt driven Lenco turntables, and it was love at first sight. Soon after he started playing regularly with some friends in a mobile disco in and around his hometown in Italy. This was the time when he "made his bones" on the decks, learning to deal with sometimes difficult technical situations. In the same time he was keen to learn the "know how" of music production, but soon realized that the small reality of his hometown in Italy was not the place to be, if he wanted to progress in that field. So, after few spells in cover bands as a keyboard player, he decided to dedicate himself to mixing full time, playing in different clubs in the south of Italy. He had the chance between 1989 and 1990 to play at Radio Azzurra, where he was playing long uninterrupted mixed sets at night (they say he was one of the first DJ's to do that in Italy!). In that radio he was flooded with new promos every week, and what promos! We're talking here about the golden age of Acid House! The easy access to all that material made his music taste grow considerably, thing that was going to be precious few years later, when he finally started making his own productions. This happened in 1995, and after few collaborations on white labels, where his name did not appear, he had his first official record deal. It was 1996 when Flying Records, then one of the biggest independent labels in Italy, offered him a deal on Drohm, a sister label. The project was called Sky Boy-The Space EP, and it was a success even in London, where it was played regularly in nights like Escape from Samsara. Unfortunately the financial part of the deal didn't mirror the artistic success of the record, because, few months after the record was out, the label declared bankruptcy, and the money that was due to him never arrived! This, together with few personal problems pushed MAXX to leave Italy and the music business. After few years spent going around in Europe and trying to get by with different jobs he finally got to London. When he was brought to free parties around 1998, he started thinking of going back into mixing again, but it wasn't until 2001 that he finally did it, with the famous 12 records in his bag. This was in big part due to the insistence of his ex girlfriend, Patty, who believed in his potential, and convinced him to give it a go. After that gig MAXX started playing regularly on the most famous sound systems in London, like Manik, Malfaiteurs, Stinky Pink, KSS, E1S and Solid. He also plays in different technivals around Britain and Europe, together with gigs in European clubs, like Sala Taboo, in Madrid, where he went to play in 2003 his mixture of Acid and Hard Techno. He recently started producing again, his new track, Hackney, is on Open Source, a London based label. 2006 has just seen the birth of MAXX's new label: Polymeric Records, with the guest appearance of Jeff Amadeus for the launch! Future releases on Open Source, Generator UK and Dirty Bass are also on the way...
