Specials/Infos	DJ SHANTISAN / Artist Info / www.saltedsoul.at Grown up and socialized in a small place in Lower Austria, Herbert Bachhofer, better known as Shantisan, got in touch with the Black Music Culture very early. Influenced by friends and family he irresistibly had to start collecting records. A wide selection of hip-hop and downbeat records eventually led him to collecting Soul, Afro, Jazz, Bossa Nova and especially Brazilian records. Having all those fine records at home he felt the drive to play them in front of a dancing audience. After several Dj-sets, the foundation of his own musical platform was the next important step for Shantisan in order to get his own thing together: Salted Soul a non-purist Afro Grooves, Brazilian Rhythms, Downbeat, House and Drum’n’Bass mix was born as a label and as a kind of trade mark for his parties which are now taking place in several locations all over Austria, reaching Germany, Italy and Greece. Until now Shantisan has done several Remixes as well as Re-Edits, including the well known „Oba La Vem Ela“-Re-Rub, released on Jazz Rec. in 2005 or the musical production for the project „Deploy“ which features Austrian bass player Jojo Lackner as well as singer Lilith who has worked in several collaborations, for example with Parov Stelar. Deploy was released on Salted Soul Records in 2007. Recent works were the collaboration ‚S.O.S.‘ ‚together with the Austrian producer/ Dj Stefan Obermaier which is released on Sol*Selectas in New York, a remix for the German producer/ Dj Quincy Jointz (Geriba) that will be released on Timewarp records in autumn, a remix for Basement Freaks from Greece, or a collaboration with Roland Schwarz from Austria’s Etage Noir Label. Shantisan‘s true musical passion is Brazilian music which is definitely shown in his work with Brazilian singer Micheline Cardoso. Hopefully you can catch one of those legendary Salted Soul parties - keep in mind: „It‘s Salted Soul Baby!“ DJ LUCIO K / Artist Info / www.myspace.com/luciok Lucio K started djing back in 1987. Born in Rio de Janeiro, his work took him all over Brasil. He has worked and remixed for many Brazilian artists. His international career began in 1995 when for two consecutive summers he threw Brazilian parties around Ibiza and Formentera (Spain). Since then Lucio K has played in Canadá, E.U.A, South Africa and Ukraine. His love and respect for music has got him into a deep research about all things retro from both the Brazilian and Latin music scene. For the last 6 years hes the only DJ from Rio de Janeiro who holds a resitence party dedicated to these rare grooves from the 60s and 70s (Sambalounge @ Brazooka - Casa da Matriz). His unique set is filled with fine Afro-Brazilian, Brazilian Jazz, Sambalanco, Bossa-Nova and Brazilian Funk&Soul music. Most of it he gathered from rare vinyls, mixed with his own tracks and friends productions. As a producer, since 1998, he works on tracks that have influence of Breakbeats, Drum’n’bass and house music, but also of brazilian rhythms like Bossa Nova, Samba, Samba-Rock, Carimbó, Baião, Candomblé and other root rhythms of Brazil.
