Apple hat heute den neuen Mac Pro mit 8 Prozessorkernen und einer neuen Systemarchitektur vorgestellt. Der neue Mac Pro kombiniert zwei der neuen Quad-Core Xeon Prozessoren in 45-Nanometer-Technik von Intel mit bis zu 3,2 GHz und eine leistungsfähige neue Grafik mit bis zu 4 TB internem Speicherplatz.

Der Mac Pro verfügt über umfassende Erweiterungsmöglichkeiten, darunter vier interne Festplattenschächte für die kabelfreie Installation von vier 1 TB ATA Festplatten für maximal 4 TB internen Speicherplatz und unterstützt zwei SuperDrive-Laufwerke. Mit optionalen 15000 U/Min SAS Laufwerken, die bis zu 250 MB/s RAID 5 I/O-Leistung liefern, eignet sich der Mac Pro ideal für die Film- und Videobearbeitung. In Verbindung mit SATA oder SAS-Laufwerken über eine optionale Mac Pro RAID Karte bietet der Mac Pro höchste Datensicherheit und Festplatten I/O-Leistung. Der Mac Pro ist von der Vorder- wie von der Rückseite einfach und bequem zugänglich und verfügt über fünf USB 2.0 Ports, zwei Fire 400 Ports, zwei FireWire 800 Ports, optische und analoge Audioein- und ausgänge, zwei Gigabit-Ethernet Ports und einen Kopfhörerausgang zum Anschluss von Peripheriegeräten.

Der Standard 8-Core Mac Pro für 2.499 Euro verfügt über:

- zwei 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Prozessoren mit zwei unabhängigen 1600 MHz Front Side Bussen;
- 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 ECC DIMM Speicher, auf bis zu 32 GB erweiterbar;

wie sieht's denn da mit multithreaded software aus?
genauso mau wie bei windows?

ansonsten macht doch ein 8kerner (noch und ewig) überhaupt keinen sinn.
es sei denn im sonderfall "virtualisierung", was vielleicht im kommen aber sicherlich nicht brot-und-butter-technik ist.

endlich werden multi touch trackpads eingebaut!!

Das MacBook Air ist mit einem extra großen Trackpad mit Multi-touch-Technologie ausgestattet. Sie können durch Auf- und Zuziehen, Streichen oder Drehen Text einzoomen, durch ein Fotoalbum blättern oder ein Bild anpassen. Diese Form der Eingabe mittels Fingerbewegungen, die auf dem iPhone und iPod touch so erfolgreich ist, gibt es jetzt auch für das MacBook.

on top waere das airbook dann mit touchscreen (ohne tastatur) und spracheingabe. falttastaturen als notloesung gibt's ja eh schon. dvd-laufwerk oder brenner braucht man heute ja sowieso nicht mehr, da flashsticks eigentlich ausreichen sollten.
