His prolific productions have garnered international attention and are propelling him into America’s future DJ-cum-producer star. Steve Porter is just released his first-ever mix compilation ‘PORTERHOUSE’ with 26 tracks melded together on 1xCD in his signature genre-defying, pulsating, energetic Porterhouse style. The album merges his DJing and production style with 9 of his own original tracks, further blurring the distinction between DJ and producer into one compelling artist to watch. Once in a blue moon there comes along a prodigy that is noticed by the big guns and whose talent catapults them onto the world stage. Something of a child prodigy from a famous scientist father, Steve’s first love was discovering electronic sounds at 16 years old. From Boston to New York, Steve Porter has evolved from record store clerk, mobile DJ to New England rave DJ to landing on the roster at one of the most prestigious booking agencies in the world. Steve Porter was discovered by Chris Fortier when Chris heard a CDR of his productions in 1999. Chris quickly brought him into the FADE Records fold. Soon thereafter, Steve was signed as the youngest member to join The Collective Agency; home to Sasha, U.N.K.L.E., and Lee Burridge. He began touring across the U.S., Canada, South America, Australia, Asia and Europe and has played alongside Sasha on the Airdrawndagger & Involver North American tours, Sander Kleinenberg on the Essential Mix Tour and also headlining a hectic schedule of national and international DJ dates. Over the last six years, Steve has amassed a wide portfolio of over 70 singles and 28 remixes under his name and the many aliases (Agent 001, HDF & Bons) used to suit the mood of the song. His myriad of tracks have been dominating dancefloors globally with the versatility of Porterhouse finding its way into the record boxes of everyone from Sasha, Lee Burridge, Derrick Carter, Carl Cox, Sander Kleinenberg, Mark Farina and Paul van Dyk. Steve’s debut artist album ‘Homegrown’ released in 2005 on Fade Records is an amalgam of his various unique styles and melodic nuances. The expertly mixed album brings together 14 original tracks. Some of which have already garnered wide attention with inclusion of the tracks on numerous high-profile dance music labels & compilations including; "Vodka Cranberries" on hot new label Nu Republic, "Definite Form" on Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain Records and included on his recent Everybody CD for Renaissance, and most recently, the track “Swanky” has been included on über-cool Felix da Housecat’s upcoming Playboy: The Mansion compilation. The essence of Porterhouse brings the energetic action to the dancefloor where the warm, funky basslines and cool percussion melt away any chin stroking pretensions and the resonating guitar & piano hooks lure you into an eternal groove. Make no mistake, Porterhouse is party house. Luke Fair  Much of the credit for the recent buzz over Toronto’s budding dance scene falls on the shoulders and turntables of DJ Luke Fair. Chosen by DJ Magazine as one of their “faces to watch for in 2003,” Fair has begun his assault on the international dance music scene with an eclectic style that includes twisted vocal house, funky progressive and trippy electro-tech. His first exposure to club culture was being hired as a busboy at Toronto's legendary, now-defunct Industry Nightclub. It was there that he refined his ear for all forms of dance music, and made the decision to give DJing and producing a shot after hearing sets every weekend from legends such as Derrick Carter, David Morales, Roger Sanchez and Cevin Fisher. Within 4 months, he went from being a busboy, to the club's sound and lighting engineer, to being asked by co-owner and Toronto legend, DJ Matt C, to man the opening dj slot on Saturday nights. He happily accepted and did it right up until Industry shut their doors for good in August 2000. Luke subsequently went on to a residency at Toronto’s popular “Breathe” night at System Soundbar, known for it’s progressive sound and dance frenzied crowds and repeated gigs at Guvernment (Toronto) and venues worldwide. Most recently, Luke Fair has garnered attention for his studio efforts, with genre-crossing white label remixes of U2’s “Silver & Gold,” which has enjoyed repeated plays by top DJs, the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Deep Dish, Pete Tong and John Digweed. In fact, Digweed liked the cut so much, he invited Fair to sign to his Bedrock label. Since then, Fair has completed a remix of Moonface's “Futurized Fears,” a two-sided 'ragga-house' single titled 'Kritical,' a remix of Satoshi Tomiie's “Virus” for SAW, Kings Of Tomorrow's “I Want You” for Yoshitoshi, Express Soul's “I'm Waiting” for Fade, and Lorient's “Salvation” for Inversus. He recorded one disc on the critically acclaimed Yoshitoshi ‘In House We Trust’ 3 CD Series and commandeered the world tour. Keep an eye out for groundbreaking releases and headlining performances from Luke in the upcoming year. Tiefschwarz feat. Basti Schwarz  1996 gründen die Brüder Ali und Basti Schwarz mit ihrem Kumpel Peter Hoff, der auch die Benztown Studios betreibt, das Produzententeam Tiefschwarz. Der Projektname entsteht aus der Verbindung des Familiennamens mit ihrer Vorliebe für Deep House. Aber die Gebrüder Schwarz sind nicht erst seit 1996 in der Musikszene aktiv, denn den Stuttgarter Club "on-u" eröffnete Ali bereits 1990. Der Club wuchs zu einer wichtigen Kinderstube der Deutschen Dancekultur. Bereits drei Jahre später folgte der nächste Club: das legendäre "Red Dog" war nicht nur in Housekreisen bekannt, sondern bald auch den Hip Hoppern ein Begriff. Leider machte das " Red Dog" vor einigen Jahren seine Pforten dicht. Neben ihrer Arbeit als Resident DJs in den eigenen Clubs machen unzählige DJ Gigs auf dem ganzen Globus die Brüder bekannt. So spielten sie bereits in Miami, NYC, Amsterdam, Sydney und Leeds. Sie legten mit Größen der Houseszene wie den Masters at Work, Lary Heard A.K.A Mr. Fingers, dem Disco House-Heroen Mike Dunn, Tony Humphries oder Mousse T. auf. Nach sechs Jahren erfolgreicher DJ-Karriere beginnen die beiden mit eigenen Produktionen und gründen das Label Continuemusics. Dort veröffentlichen sie ihre Debutsingle "24Seven", die später von Michi Lange und Boris Dlugosch ((Peppermint Jam) geremixt und ein Hit in den Houseclubs wird. Doch 1998 schließen sie einen Vertrag mit Benztown ab und veröffentlichen "Music" mit einem Feature von Joy Denalane vom Freundeskreis. Plötzlich sind auch die Insulaner im Königreich von dem deutschen Housetrio begeistert. "Music" wird sogar von dem New Yorker Label Wave Music lizenziert. Noch bekannter als durch ihre eigenen Produktionen sind Tiefschwarz durch ihre vielen Remixarbeiten. Bekannte Größen wie Ultranate von dem Kulthouselabel Strictly Rhythem, Byron Stingley, Jam & Spoon, Earth, Wind & Fire sowie Mousse T.s Hit "Horny" gehen durch die Finger von Tiefschwarz. Im Jahr 2001 erscheint ihr Debütalbum "ral 9005", der Name ist aus der Bezeichnung für die Farbe Tiefschwarz abgeleitet. Sie zeigen mit dem Album, das sie sich keinesfalls in eine Schublade schieben lassen, und mixen mit Leichtigkeit alle Stile durcheinander. So sind die Einflüsse von Nu Jazz, Garage, Pop, Electro genauso zu hören wie Downbeat Grooves und ihre typischen Deephouse Beats. Auf zwei Alben ("Little Help For Your Friends", 2002; "Misch Masch", 2004) demonstrieren Tiefschwarz noch einmal ihre Fähigkeiten als Remixer, bevor sie mit "Eat Books" 2005 einen weiteren Longplayer mit eigenen Tracks vorlegen. Im selben Jahr holen sich Ali und Basti für ihren Remix von Spektrums "Kinda New" den begehrten "Dance Music Award". Das internationale Renommee der Stuttgarter wächst weiter, und so ist es kein Wunder, dass Tiefschwarz im Sommer 2006 mit einer Ausgabe der fast schon legendären "Fabric"-Serie geehrt werden. Neben diesem Highlight bringt der Sommer 2006 den Brüdern auch noch eine wöchentliche DJ-Residency in Ibizas "Space Club". Und dort, im Club, fühlen sie sich eh am Wohlsten. |
