thanks to Ludwig II.

1] Hey Jona, great you’re taking the time for us to answer some questions – could you probably introduce yourself to our readers in some sentences?

I'm a musician, and I have been producing electronic music for about 8 years now. It brought me to start a professional career from 2004.

2] How and when did you start listening and getting in touch with the kind of music, you’re currently into?

It all began when I was 15. I discovered this sound when I first went to Fuse club in Brussels. It opened me to a whole new world.

3] What were the main DJs or labels back then, which you listened and were looking up to?

There was no doubt that my main influence at that time was Dave Clarke. I was amazed by his technique and the energy that came out of the music. I used to buy a lot of records from labels like Axis, Sino, Primate...

4] Ok, let's talk about some of your tunes. Can you tell us a little bit about each one?

1) Use and Abuse: A good tool for the club that I did back in 2003 for my friend Sammy Goossens' label "Toys for Boys"
2) Moontalka: I wanted to keep the melodies living and also have a lot of fluctuations in the arrangement. That's why you can hear many different ideas and atmospheres in it.
3) Learning From Making Mistakes: The first track for Get Physical Music. And also the one that gave me the big push for the start of my career.
4) Altiplano: I wanted to be more basic on this one. And keep only the essential elements that I would need. And I'm very proud of the result.
5) Manta: Influenced by a lot of Detroit Techno. That's a tune I can play in many of my sets. It adapts itself well in very different configurations.

5] You released your first EP on Get Physical in 2006 – how did it come to this cooperation?

By the easiest possible way. I just sent a CD. They liked it and called me back.

6] On your last release “Take Five” you used the famous piano tunes from the correspondently named track by Dave Brubeck – are you a Jazz fan, what made you use this sample?

I like jazz, yes. Nothing really "made" me use the sample. By the way, there are absolutely no samples from the original there. I re-played every instrument. Also, the original tempo is much higher than that. I just sat down in the studio with this tune in mind as I just watched a video from 1960 where they played it. And I began recording a piano that would take Paul Desmond's sax theme. Then I just jammed with that and eventually programmed a whole track around it.

7] What programs, equipments, instruments etc. do you use to create your music?

A lot.

8] Could you name us your main inspirations when producing music?

Brian Eno.

9] Do you prefer DJing and travelling around the world to producing music and probably having to spend hours alone in a studio atmosphere?

I love both. A studio atmosphere is everything but cold. That’s a place where you create, where you have to love to be. It should be like a second home. And getting to play your music out at gigs is just a reward of all the hours spent in the studio.

Thanks Jona!
