John Acquaviva
With 17 years in the music industry, John Acquaviva has played for over 2 million people and has appeared at over 5000 gigs. Always at the vanguard of the DJ and club world, today he is hotter than ever. He is crafting new anthems for today's clubs and clubbers, and working with and introducing a new generation of DJs and artists on his own label Definitive Recordings, as well as other labels such as Blufin & Craft.
John began his international career in 1989 with Richie Hawtin by founding one of the world's best known and influential techno labels, Plus 8 Records. John and Richie not only launched their own careers, but also those of now huge techno figures Jochem Paap/Speedy J, Kenny Larkin and Dan Bell (as the trio Cybersonik). In 1992, Acquaviva and Hawtin also founded Definitive Recordings as an outlet for house music, launching the likes of Robotman, Barada, and Omegaman, along with a host of other house talents. Although then known mostly as a DJ, John was actively involved as engineer, producer and artist in the formative years of these artists and labels.
Last year, 2006, was another huge leap forward. John cemented his DJ reputation by placing at highest new entry in DJ Magazine's annual top 100 - number 22 in the canonical poll of DJ influence and success worldwide. Key to that was his first ever full-on weekly Ibiza residency Acquaholic at Privilege in the '06 season. This year, John goes from strength to strength taking a 5-date residency at Privilege, joining a tight roster that includes techno megastar Adam Beyer for Mauro Picotto's MEGANITE on Wednesdays.
Last year's success with Acquaholic will also feed into John's summer plans with the touring club ELECTRONIC. With John as the focal point, ELECTRONIC is John's way of assembling the best of the established and up-and-coming house generation, handpicked from the best in Europe. A night for true music and clubbing fans, John will headline along with Germany's Karotte, Holland's Mason and Britain's Mike Monday, as well as with the UK's Cheshire Catz, Tommy Four Seven and Big Daddy, Italy's Remo, Spain's Fesco Records crew and Olivier Giacomotto of France.
This is but a part of John's influence on the music industry. A pioneer of new music and ideas, John was one of the first people to take notice and embrace electronic music's digital future at the dawn of 2000. First, John got involved with and championed Final Scratch as a new innovative way for DJ's and artists to connect the digital world with the analog world. Following its success, John subsequently took another big step and helped launch Beatport.com, the biggest dance-music download site in the world.
As well as working in the business behind the music, John also works with an entire community of DJs – not just through ELECTRONIC – but also through writing and collaborating on new tracks. The past year has seen John introduce the world to Swen Weber with one of the years biggest club anthems "First Stroke" (on Craft). John's own already prolific production list has grown to include six top tens on Beatport's main sales charts. This year features new projects with David Amo & Julio Navas (from Fresco) with BUNGEE & ETHANOL. The legendary label Definitive Recordings is definitely back with new breakout tracks such as "Volta" by ROBOT NEEDS OIL (remixed by Olivier Giacomotto), Damon Jee & Olivier Giacomotto's EPs "Deep in the Night" and "Gail in the O," plus upcoming new music from Greg Kobe and a solid group of new artists.
This year there is no sign of slowing down. Key music projects to watch for this Spring and Summer are a new single with MADOX, "RUNNING," featuring vocals by Tommie Sunshine on Mantra Italy. Look out for a Summer CD Big City Beats radio [Germany's top dance station] for Privilege, premiering some of the season's hottest music.

Olivier Giacomotto's production and DJing career began in 1999 through work in recording studios where he learned how to use samplers, mixing desks, effects, computers and music software. From the Blues Cafe Studio in Paris to Townhouse Studios in London, Olivier worked with Robert Suhas, Magnus Fiennes, Guy Pratt, Yohad Nevo, Pete Lewis, John Themis, Bond, Lyrics, and various other famous bands, producers, studio musicians and sound engineers from the mainstream music industry.

Back in his hometown of Bordeaux,France Olivier began programming breakbeat, drum and bass, triphop, hiphop and lounge through projects like Shagshag, Dubweisers or Uprock Massive. In 2002 with Shagshag, he won a remix contest organised by NEWS and got his first vinyl release: Plastyc Buddha - Rhodes Royce (Shagshag Remix).

During 2004 and 2005, Olivier produced more than 20 EPs. All these releases have been massively played and charted by scores of djs such as Misstress Barbara, Carl Cox, Chris Liebing, Umek, Marco Bailey, Christian Varela, Dave Angel, Felipe, Tonio, Green Velvet and many more...

2006 has been the starting point of Olivier's international career: He began by hitting Brazil and came back with major feedback and support from one of the best south american scenes. Olivier is also constantly on the move across europe, playing in famous clubs and events like Privilege in Ibiza, Rex Club in Paris, Heineken City Hall in Amsterdam, La Bush in Belgium, Fabrik in Madrid, Turnmills in London, Hrad in Slovakia, Dom Im Berg in Austria, Fusion in Germany...

Olivier provided exclusive bootlegs for djs including Felix da Housecat, 2 Many Djs, and Tiga. His first electro release came on Dietrich Schonemann's imprint, Tora Tora Tora. TTT-14, entitled Jamon y Queso EP, and coproduced with Damon Jee, immediatly got big support from worldwide dj's such as John Acquaviva, Sven Vath, Steve Bug, Tony Rios, and many more...

Summer 2006 started with another smash, this time on John Acquaviva's imprint; Definitive Recordings. The 3 tracker, called Walking on The Moog was co-produced with Damon Jee and created such a big buzz on the scene that it even opened the doors to the top10 of beatport's electro house chart and the mainroom of Privilege, Ibiza.

Year 2007 started with his work on Volta from Robot Needs Oil. Massively played around the world, this remix reached the second place of Beatport Top100 Chart. He's one of the key artist of Definitive Recordings, working closely with John Acquaviva on various projects, releases, and remixes. His release called Gail in the O was number one on the top sales charts.

About DJ Remo
"Fine art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of man go together". Remo has been following to the letter the phrase above having become one of the most interesting italian djs, thanks to his talent and charismatic personality. This Italian dj/producers music precedes him and speaks about his world, the path that led him to continuously re-invent his style and to create an innate bond with his public. At the beginning of his career Remo looked as if he was on the path of Hip Hop, when, embraced by the rhythms and lights of Ibiza, being just over 20 years old, he became the dj resident in the roof terrace of Pacha. With passion and determination on his side, Remo started to play in some of the most important clubs in Milan (Italy) until the encounter with the Pervert group, with which an important partnership was soon born : Remo became the resident dj at Pervert Gold, the most sexy and out of the ordinary club night in Italy, which soon opened the gates towards the experimentation of new sounds and enabled him to get in touch with the most important international Djs. Everything changes as time flows by, and so did Remo, performing a metamorphosis in his style which got influenced by more electronic and dark sonorities. Listening and assimilating while creating something unique that reflects what you are, that is the path which Remo chose to give his career a turn by becoming a producer. The dedication, fervour and hard work that are present in everyone that follows a dream all led to the creation of the debut track "Black Sabrina", released on Giant Wheel Records and made together with Get Physical's Chelonis R. Jones, which was immediately played by internationals big djs and become soon an italian smash hit, introducing him to the big audience. His career as a producer proceeds with new releases and with the signature of important remixes such as for Audioflys Inside the Beat and Coolio and Snoop Doggs Gangsta Walk. As dj,he started also important collaborations with djs such as Steve Lawler who brings him as resident at Viva, his night at Ibizas club Space, and with John Aquaviva for whom Remo participates as a guest the Aquaholic nights at Ibizas Privilege. Remo now continues to impress thanks to the incomparable energy that he transmits in his dj sets and the ease with which his music manages to become one with those who listen to it. Speed, immediateness plus the ability to experiment and following new paths, while always remaining faithful to himself, these are some of the elements which combined form Dj Remos artistic DNA.

Clemens Neufeld
[left]
