Specials/Infos |
Naga (alias Balázs Fejér) started making music in the Budapest underground at the end of the ‘80s performing with his band Iván Lendül (they were on stage for instance at the legendary Nap-Nap (Sun) festival in ‘91). Naga was there at the starting up of “Tilos Radio” and has been editing the Törökfürdő (Turkish-Bath) magazine later. He has obtained his diploma in ‘96 as cultural anthropologist: he got into touch with the electronic music via his thesis dealing with the acid phenomenon. He’s been playing as DJ since ‘95, this was the time when his mix-show called Ablak-A-Dubra (AAD) has started on Tilos radio being on the air once a week. In ’98 the former show had developed into a club version, which is the still ongoing AAD clubnight on Wednesday nights. In the beginning he made his debut at the Trafó club, then on the St.Tropez boat, later on his final residence became the Süss Fel Nap club, which had first been operating as his own club, then from 2001 on it became the club of “Chi Recordings”. A specific formation of the Budapest clublife is since the recent years the Cinetrip team, whose programs are marked by exotic party locations (usually baths) and the accentuated visuals. Naga was the regular guest of the program series from the beginning. In the year 2000 ,together with Amb, he establishes Chi-Recordings. At present Naga is together with Beta resident of the parties of AAD. The AAD Special parties on the A38 boat are held on a monthly basis. At the AAD clubnights several international guest performers have been present in the past years. Actually, this event moved to the newest and maybe most exclusive club ChaChaCha 12”. In Naga’s eclectic taste for music there is enough space for dub, breakbeat, tribal and progressive house, at present he is mostly playing minimal and Detroit House music. In year 2000 he was chosen second best at the Wanted magazine best Hungarian DJ voting. In the recent past years he has been working together with the flute player Tibor Szemző and has issued a common album together with Amb. Naga has been on tour with his sets through several European countries. In 2002 he received a role in the documentary film Partik Népe (Party People) directed by Gábor Zsigmond Papp, which is dealing with the Hungarian party culture. In 2004 Naga started up a clubnight together with Beta called H2H (house to house), which is at present hosted by the Mono Club. Back in 2004, Chi Recordings and Cinetrip have won the support of the NKA media-arts curatorship, with the help of which Naga’s former radio-play has been completed with a picture-play: the audio-visual “Brain Surgery” also published on DVD is based on the novel “A journey round my skull” from Frigyes Karinthy written in 1937 (as performed by Zoltán Latinovits). The original text gets a new interpretation through the contemporary digital music (partly Naga’s own tracks, partly music form the other Chi artists) and the Dj- techniques developed in the party-world. http://www.myspace.com/nagaudio http://www.hairy.hu |
