How many DJing careers began at a bowling alley in Belgium? Probably not too many, so I think it’s safe to say that Hagal’s is the only such case. In Lier in 1998 the bowling champ decided to spend a night away from the bowling alley and went to the La Rocca Club.
Patryk was very much delighted by La Rocca’s resident DJ’s performance that night. In fact, no other DJ had made such an impression on him before. The DJ in question was DJ Marko who soon after would become his colleague and teacher. Nowadays, Hagal considers him to be the inspiration that later lead him to a turning point at which he rethought his plans for the future.

He played his first parties in his hometown Poznan. At the beginning, he delivered after party mixes to the frequenters of the provisional underground MO Club. And for contrast, he was one of the DJs that frequently played at after parties thrown by Xenia and Tomato at their exquisite home for close friends and those in the loop.

In 2003 he decided to become an event manager, in addition to spinning, and joined the newly formed My Sweet Music agency. He helped co-organized the biggest dance events in Poland which included Creamfields or Carl Cox’s gigs, at which he also performed as a DJ. At the same time he accepted a residency offer from the mini club Cute, where the 6 hour long sets he played were quite a test of his DJ skills.

In February 2004 he decided to slow down a bit. He left My Sweet Music and began organizing smaller events which were based on his own ideas. Thanks to his efforts, DJs like Seamus Haji, Rebeka and Spencer Parker performed in Poland. Soon after he started rebuilding his artistic image once again, this time making sure that he kept a distance from his “big room” achievements of the past. His constant search for a musical niche together with hard work on improving his DJing skills have lead him directly to other important gigs. He considers supporting gigs for Jeff Bennett, Dave Robertson, Greg Benz and John Ioannou among the most important of these.

2005 has seen Patryk playing all over the country, both at big events and small clubs. For Hagal, the most important were the OCE Festival in Bydgoszcz (Godskitchen stage), the Heineken Green Zone series on “dry land”, parties sponsored by Reds on the seaside and the unforgettable summer nights at the Castle Courtyard in Poznan.

Hagal’s music is frequently delivered to the clubbers of SQ and Post Dali in Poznan, where he holds his residencies. Outside of Poznan, he has been frequently DJing at Utopia in Warsaw for the past few months. He also delivers his music to thousands of people via his “After Hours” radio show on RMI FM. The music he spins is a mixture of high quality house, electro, progressive and new electro.
