sonstiges	Freestyle has been playing house/ deep house/ garage professionally for 14 years. Residing in the land down under, he is currently making a significant impact on the international scene. In 2001 he placed 1st in the scratching division & 2nd in the Beatjuggling category of "The Technics Ultimate DJ Showdown" Freestyle has also won the mixing competitions in his home state twice in 1994 & 1995. Over his 14 year career Freestyle has played many clubs, raves, dance parties and large events across Australia (Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Byron Bay) and supported the likes of Mark Farina, David Morales, Jonene, Chris Lum, Hipp-E, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), K Klass, John Digweed, Phat Phil Cooper, Jef K, Sasha, Greame Park, Plus One & A Trak to name a few. Freestyle’s diverse career has seen him work as an instructor for Technics and other schools, teaching the art of Scratching, Harmonic Key Mixing and Production/Engineering. He also had his own house radio show ("Funkshun") on the Gold Coast and has hosted several dance radio broadcasts. Freestyle set up his own production facility (Funkshun Produkshuns) in 1999 after training for 3 years at K.Rasta studios. The studio is used mainly for personal recording projects but also is used to teach lessons privately in Production & also DJing. Colin's recent releases through his studio have received support worldwide by house heavyweights such as Mark Farina, Jay J, DJ Sneak, Kaskade, Jonene, Brett Johnson, Phil Weeks, JT Donaldson, DJ Heather, Dizzy, Paul Woolford, Jason Hodges, Raoul (Swirl People) & Spettro!, Colin's bootleg of Suzanne Vega "Col's Diner" being the most successful internationally. Hard work in the studio has payed off as Colin has recently landed a position as Executive Producer for new label "Urth Muzik" (A deep house label out of Long Beach California). Look out for upcoming releases by Colin in the US summer (under several guises) & also label boss & very talented vocalist "Xavior". Colin currently holds two weekly residencies - Friday Nights at "Oxford 152" (Downtempo/Deep House/Garage) 7pm til 12.30 pm - Saturday Nights at “The Press Club” (Deep House/Garage) Rotating 4 hour timeslots Colin is also a guest in the POD at Brisbane's Superclub "Family".Expect a more Chicago jackin sound at this particular gig. Colin reached a milestone personally & also for Queensland by entertaining the main room patrons at Family with a 2 hour set consisting only of his own productions & remixes. His technical skills on the turntables & professional business ethics has earnt him lots of respect from his peers and positioned him as one of Australia's hottest exports. Freestyle is the first DJ/Producer to crack the US house market from Queensland & is helping other Brisbane dj's to realise their dreams through tuition & collaborations in his studio. Colin is producing & remixing for several labels Internationally, such as Jordan Fields "Loft 66" & "Headphoniq" Imprints (Chicago), Xavior's "URTH MUZIK" (San Pedro), Phat Phil Cooper's "Up & Under Recordings" (UK) & Jonene's "Safe In Sound Music" & "Sunny Day Records" (San Francisco) among other remix projects all over the place. Freestyle was recently added to the BriqueRouge team in France with a release in May 2004 titled "Freaks Report" BR038 containing a Joshua Collins remix! Main influences in making music would have to be groups & producers such as Midnight Star, The Whispers, all early Jam & Lewis stuff (Alex O'Neal, Cherelle, SOS Band etc), Kashif Productions (Evelyn King, Melba Moore etc) & Paul Hardcastle. Record Labels such as Prelude, Solar, Tabu, Salsoul etc (Early 80's Funk/Soul grooves mostly).
