Dear Family, Friends, Colleagues, Haters (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

As you may or may not know my alter-ego Slack Hippy DJ,Passionate Beer drinkerand alround music freak is celebrating his 20th anniversary behind the wheels of steel.

Slack Hippy`s musical adventures all took off in the year 1990/91 in sunny Cornwall where he became actively involved in electronic music, meaning really that he took Ecstacy for the first time , said bollocks to the Uni and spent the next year alternating between the Sofa and the Dancefloor. During this metamorphosis from student to raver he also started to pay attention to where this electronic beat was coming from, who was creating such energy, an energy that was so great that it even got Slack Hippy`s lazy young arse grooving on the dancefloor. It soon became apparent that 2 turntables,a mixer and a record collection steered and directed by a human being were responsible for such feelings of emotions and ahmm, yes Ecstacy in this young mans brain!

Good thought he , and together with a group of like-minded friends and with the help of 2 local Cornish DJs a soundsystem was bought and brought to life in the midst of a peaceful Cornish Fishing Village and for 1 winter and summer all hell broke loose. A rented beach house was turned into a weekend club, a world war2 bunker in the middle of a large stretch of Sand-Dunes served as a suitable rave arena and slowly but surely the boy that was to become Slack Hippy started to learn the art of Turntablism, helped and encouraged by his 2 DJ friends he was normally asked to DJ as last man standing. Even back then it was noted that the man that was to become Slack Hippy possessed a remarkable endurance and take it as it comes approach to both dancing and DJing and much fun was had and some funky moves were cut on the dancefloors. So, it was obvious that whilst his friends monged out on the Sofas that the man that was to become Slack Hippy would take to the turntables and whilst learning by doing become addicted to the Beat-match, selection and flow that would later mark his DJ career! But how did he earn his DJ name???

Well, after months of raving and chilling his hair and beard became long and ragged he started to smell strange and would nourish himself from tea, chocolate and chips You could always find him either lying on the Beach oggling the girls or on the Sofa taking a “rest” always with his trusty bong close to hand..One of his friends noted this and said one day out of the blue. ”You`re such a fucking Slack Hippy it`s just unbelievable” and thus the Hippy was born !!!

20 years have since passed, and having learned to bath, cook and having watched his hair recede to nowhere-land Slack Hippy still has not lost his enthusiasm for electronic music and, knees permitting, still cuts some funky move`s on the dancefloor!
Now living for almost 20 years in Vienna, Austria it`s time to celebrate this fact! Not many DJs out there can look back on 20 years of Parties, success, failure, friends and still, week in and week out, take their position behind the wheels of steel and do their best to make that evenings party a memorable event.

So, dear Family, Friends, Colleagues, Haters;)
You`re cordially invited to take part in the kick-off event of Slack Hippys 20th anniversary @ the Market Club, Vienna on the 22nd April 2011 where Slack Hippy will be dropping House Music all night long and if we`re all very lucky, not falling over at the end of night!!
I hope some of you guys/girls that have accompanied me, myself and I over the last 20 years can make it down to the club and dance with me and laugh, remember the good old days and celebrate a further 20 years of DJ action!!

Cheers and thanks for the support throughout the last 20 years!

Sam Beales aka Slack Hippy
