Aktuell veröffentlicht er u.a. auf TFB, Einmaleins und Contexterrior. As a child, Sammy Goossens aka Sierra Sam was always asking Santa for 7-inch records to play on his little red plastic player. When he was 12 he got his first Yamaha CS01 synthesizer for Christmas and started to make noises. That's where it all began. After playing bass, electronic drums and even some keyboards in local bands, Sammy discovered he could make music on his own with a sampler and computer. Then the techno years came: he and his friends had access to a studio and started experimenting every night, leading to the first self-produced vinyl as 6th Sense Approach in 1995. Lots of releases followed, appearing on labels like Reload, Rotation, Tresor, Pure Plastic, Access 58, R&S, Muller, Teknotika and Trapez Ltd. During those years, Sierra Sam started playing live gigs and started promoting parties. For one of those parties he brought Suburban Knight to Belgium. A strong brotherhood started between the two, and Sammy helped the Detroit legend to set up a live act and toured with him. When Peacefrog offered James an album deal, he invited Sammy to co-produce it with him. A few more records as Suburban Knight came from the Belgian studio. In 2004, Sammy started a new job in a distribution company and had the idea to start his own new label. When he met Marcus Vector, the two started Toys For Boys Records, followed soon by a sub label, Nomor. The labels got recognized and played by most of the electronic dance scene and three years later, Jay Haze offered a job as label manager for Tuning Spork and Contexterrior in Berlin. This relocation pushed Sammy to produce even more music, resulting in more records for Einmaleins, Tuning Spork, Contexterrior and his own Toys For Boys, either solo or with Marcus Vector (sometimes as “DIY”) or Bloody Mary. He also established regular appearances at the Tresor club. At the moment, he is working on more new material and has started producing Bloody Mary’s first LP. M.A.R.S. ist DJ seit 1998, startete 2002 erste Produktionsversuche und gewann in den letzten Jahren viel Cluberfahrung durch Liveauftritte im Rahmen diverser Veranstaltungen in ganz Österreich und Festivals wie elevate06 und temp~07. Den GrazerInnen ist er unter anderem auch als beliebter Freitags-Resident im Parkhouse bekannt. Nach seinem ersten Release auf einem internationalen Label (Heya Hifi) kann M.A.R.S. einer erfolgreichen Zukunft entgegenblicken. Scraps of Tape are a musical collective which started as a loose gathering of people in 2000-2001 in southern Sweden, playing music from their hearts fed through distortion, noise, melodies, beats, words and no words. "With their debut release Read Between the Lines At All Times in 2004, Scraps of Tape emerged onto the instrumental music scene as a band showing incredible promise. The album was steeped in emotion at every turn, with a great diversity and subtlety present in each song's creation, and most bands would be hard pressed to deliver a sophomore effort after such a stellar debut. Fortunately, Scraps of Tape isn’t like most bands. Instead of rushing to produce its next album, the band took its time, completed a few tours, and grew as a band, something that really shows with this new release. Und tatsächlich, in den introspektiven Gitarren-Miniaturen des Londoners steckt viel von der Schönheit und der Melancholie eines Sonnenunterganges. Nach langer Zeit als umtriebiger youtube-Gitarrist erscheint 2006 die Crepusculum Debut EP auf dem deutschen 12rec. Netlabel. „Sky Diaries“ überzeugt durch seine ungekünstelte Mischung aus anspruchsvollem Gitarrenspiel, zuckersüßen Melodien and einer jazzigen Verschrobenheit, die Fred Baty’s Musik vor der Kitschfalle bewahrt. Mit einem Background in Klassischer Musik und Jazz besticht sie sowohl in ihren Kompositionen als auch in ihrer Plattenwahl mit viel Feingefühl und dem Gespür für passende Dosierungen. Die bisherigen Highlights ihrer noch jungen Karriere waren wohl Auftritte bei Festivals wie Sonar, Montreaux Jazz, Spring und Elevate, die Teilnahme an der Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne 2006 sowie ihre ersten Releases auf dem international beachteten Label Infiné 2007 und 2008. Für letztere gab es ausgezeichnete Reviews und die Tracks fanden sich in den Playlists international renommierter DJs wie Laurant Garnier, Chloe, James Holden, 3 Channels, uvm. Clara spielt derzeit laufend in den angesagtesten Clubs Europas. Free Download Hier "There are a series of videos on Youtube that I just happened to stumble across a few weeks ago. They depict a young London-based musician, known as Fred Baty, who records under the moniker Crepusculum. Normally, videos of random people playng acoustic guitar hold my attention for all of ten seconds, but there was something about the "Open Gates"* (video) that kept me watching. It wasn't until halfway through the song, that I realised this youngster was an incredible guitar player. Further investigation revealed that netlabel 12rec had seen those same videos and offered to release some of Crepusculum, banding them together as the "Sky Diaries Ep". It's predominantly an instrumental offering, but such an insignificant statement would not do this Ep justice, as the guitar work here is multi-textured and insanely melodic. Guitar harmonics sparkle throughout the glorious "Momentum" and are used within a highly inventive chord structure. It's a warm composition that just seems to get better with every listen. Many acoustic and instrumental albums suffer from lack of variety, but there is no danger of that happening here. The superior guitar work is augmented with Album Leaf-style chimes and some delicate keyboard sounds. "Anachronism" uses this approach with a degree of perfection. Every scrape of the plectrum across the strings and every hand movement upon the fretboard is picked up on this poignant recording, giving a certain atmospheric edge. As the lovely melody of the, aforementioned, "Open Gates" washes over you, you will be in no doubt that Baty is and incredibly talented individual, and 12rec appear to have picked out a pearl from the bottom of the ocean with this Ep." - Boring Machines * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJfc6Ql18Cs
