Samir Maslo Samir Maslo Biography Samir Maslo currently holds the status of a rising star, musical success is no novelty to this top producer/DJ. His mother says that as a kid, instead of playing with toys, Samir prefered to play with his parents record collection, which eventually led him to start selling his first self-made mix-tapes at the innocent age of 9. His birthland Germany and his Croatian roots allowed him to explore and understand the musical development in both countries and have an insight into the emerging local club-communities. So at just 16 years he was invited to play in one of Croatia's most prestigeous venues, the Hacienda Club in front of 1000 frenetic clubbers, and believe me, it wasn't his last gig at this location. After spending 3 years as a successful DJ at various clubs in Croatia and surrounding territories, Samir moved back to Munich where he discovered his true calling: producing music. With a musical background ranging over since his childhood, and his experience as a DJ qualify's him as one of the most talented producers/remixer/DJ's. His first productions soon managed to gain the acclaimation and respect of his peers in Munich, and eventually bringing him to the attention of few record labels. His first official release in 1992 was "Cheap Orgasm" on Syn Records under the moniker of S.M. Paax. From this moment on, Samir's star was quickly on the rise: after various productions, he started the renowned "Soul Experience Project" in 1997, featuring the great Mel Canady on vocals. They also released their first internationally successful single "Mind Games". By this time, Samir's work was highly sought after. He worked on remixes for big-name artisits such as Mothers Finest, Xavier Naidoo, Lou Bega, Ron Caroll, Soul Providers, or Terence Trent D'Arby, just to name a very few. His version of Milk & Sugar's hit-single "Love Is In The Air" was a fav amongst many of the leading DJs, plus his ongoing collaborations with acts such as Sin Plomo, Michelle Weeks and Sabrynaah Pope, led to another string of club-hits. In 2001 Samir founded his own label, Excited Records. But in 2002, before signing a major album deal, Samir decided to take a break from the music scene. He thought that it was just the best time to step for a moment and reflect on his accomplishments. But this retreat should not be a definite one. In 2006, after moving to Vienna and getting in touch with the local scene and some of the countries leading producers, (including Sergio Flores and Greg Usek), Samir revitalized his energy and finally decided to follow his true calling again. Now, his new productions sounds fresher than ever. They became highly sought after and can be found and heared on playlists of many leading DJ's all around the World. His single "The Vibe" - featuring Vincent Valler and his remix for Soulstar Sydicate feat. Michelle Weeks – "Love 4 Love" (both on Peppermint Jam Records) or his remix for Sergio Flores Vs. Mitomi Tokoto – "Hold On (That Piano Track)" on Purple Music became true club anthems. After having shared the decks with many legendary DJ's at some of The World's Most Famous Clubs, ie... Amnesia (Ibiza), Catwalk (Barcelona), The End (London), Aurora & Hacienda (both Croatia), Sage Club (Berlin), and the KW, 8Seasons & P1 (Munich) We welcome Samir back to the Club-Circus, where he is proving once again, why he has established himself not only as producer, but also as master on the decks. Her love for music evolved fast into a strong desire to start spinning. Lori#s first ´little´ breakthrough was her quirky electronic house and tech sound that she developed between ´95 and ´98, that quickly expanded her territory throughout the West Coast of America and across Canada. At the end of that period in ´98 she decided to head off to Europe and finally landed in London where she soon held two residencies and additionally made appearances at club 333 Old Street. After only six months, Luxury U.K. promotions organized an offer for a weekly residency in Luxembourg´s Evolution that she accepted and therefore had the opportunity to play alongside some of the ´most wanted´ in the scene like Timo Maas, Gayle San and Ritchie Hawtin. From here on, Miss Ward was continously taking part in the ´ever-changing´ music scene in Europe and kept on evolving her sound into a sophisticated mix of Techno and Electro. While touring through Europe she found herself again on stage with great Djs like Joachim Garraud, Jeff Mills, Boy George, Tom Novy, Valantino Kanzyani and Adam Beyer. Additionally, the Hi-Fi Princess stood behind the decks in some of the most wanted clubs and festivals in the world! A few examples are The Tunnel in New York City, Liquid Club in Madrid, Koneisto Festival in Finland, Mazzo in Amsterdam, the Sona in Montreal, Turbo in Toronto, 1015 Folsom in San Francisco, Klub Kuaille in Tokyo and Cittadella in the Czech Republic and her residency Suncity in Graz (Austria). Loris first release was on Shimmy Recordings in 1999, her track ´Refused Entry´ came out within the ´Collective Thoughts EP´, that soon gained great reputation by some of the top Dj´s of the scene. After having lived in New York City for four successful years (´98 till ´02), she made the decision to move back to Europe where she found a new home in Vienna, Austria. Her interests fixed in the studio, while still having the stuffed Dj-schedule, what meant hard work and patience. In 2004 she took the next step of her carreer and released her first album under the alias Lori J. Ward. ´Foreign Communication´ is a 13 track downtempo cd, available at www.ebl.cc and beatport records.It was re-signed again to Chill ball music. Soon after that she also signed to Highball Music, while one of her tracks entitled ´Disastermind´ (available on Join Us Records) emerged and was signed to the Love Parade Berlin 2004 Compilation and five other large european dance compilations. Finally another track of her album ´The New Xavier´ was nominated out of 11.000 entries into the top ten for the International Song Contest, and additionally received an honorable mention! Leaving behind this wave of success, Lori J. Ward decided to try something new and fresh, and started to sing as well. The multitalented Lori therefore founded a new project together with Tobias Frick in 2005. The live act is called ´Phonix´ and includes her fascinating voice! Her vocal career was somehow rushing into her life. On her ´Phonix´ album ´House of Jive´ her voice is part of electro-breaks-down tempo and rockish. And as the new vocalist for Greeks successfull House-export Kevin Sunray, she released one of the top hits on the dance charts in 2006 that held the number one sales position on decks.de for three weeks: Kevin Sunray & Agent Greg feat. Lori J. Ward, ´Breathe Easy´. Lori J. Ward and Tobias Frick will have their first release on Unlove music. Their track 'Design Me' will be released in July 2007 with remixes from The Whiteliners, Kevin Sunray, Falko Nestolik and Eddie F.. es ist so coolllll.... jetzt tut sich gerade an so vielen ecken etwas... gemeinsam können wir echt was schaffen... sollten wir auch...denn es ist schon viel gleich und eingefahren hier in wien...
bin schon auf das Konzept von euch apropos gespannt... c u. soon the raum - of electronic arts crew www.raum.co.at wir freuen uns schon auf die afterhour... bitte schickt uns euren IST stand der sound und licht technik... damit wir uns drauf einstellen können bzw. ausbauen können.... denn es kann sein, dass die leute bei der afterhour schon schlechter hören....(wegen axel) dann sollten wir noch mit paar subbässen aufrüsten... was denkt ihr.? oder haben wir wieder das Magistrad im popo stecken....?
