For the last 10 years, club music + Gentse Feesten = 10 Days Off. 10 years of 10 Days Off, that’s more than 100 days of pure musical pleasure for 1000’s of lovers of progressive dance music. 10 years of 10 Days Off, that’s more than 3 months of recreation for musical explorers from all over the planet, who come to dance, see and enjoy. 10 years of 10 Days Off, that’s a milestone in the history of electronic music. And if you thought each and every previous edition has been unforgettable, then make sure to keep the second half of July 2004 free. 10 Days Off will be proudly inviting a number of top notch guests from our rich history with whom we have a special relationship: Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Tiga and Jazzanova are only the tip of the iceberg. Of course 10 Days Off will once again be the place where people can discover what’s hot in the electronic music scene. Many styles such as house, electro, breakbeats, ‘80s rock, drum and bass, grooves, broken beats, nu-jazz, lounge, techno, funk, disco, … and artists who use names like Roger Sanchez, Tiefschwarz, Chicken Lips, Headman, Luciano, DJ T, Erlend Øye, Märtini Brös, Ewan Pearson, Spektrum and Ricardo Villalobos. Another ever-returning feature at 10 Days Off is the highlighting of interesting labels. This year we’ll have special label nights of F Com (Garnier and co. celebrate their 10th anniversary!), Kompakt, Sonar Kollektiv, DJ Hell’s International Deejay Gigolos, Poker Flat and Playhouse. Ricardo Villalobos, Chilean, revelation of 2003, maker of minimalist dance music, headliner of the Playhouse Special on 10 Days Off! 10 DAYS OFF 1995-2004 In 10 years time 10 Days Off has grown to be 1 of the most important indoor festivals for quality dance music and related artforms. Apart from dj sets and live performances 10 Days Off features video projections, workshops and turntable battles. But of course 10 Days Off is first of all the place where an impressive string of famous artists have played. Many times they were doing their first ever Belgian or even European appearances. 10 Days Off is also a stepping stone for young talent performing for the first time alongside the big league players. And more often than not they move on to become part of that same big league. Not only has 10 Days Off proven to be one of the most innovating festivals in the world over the last 10 years, the event is also famous for its unique vibe. How many times has it not happened that the crowd kept asking for more, up to the point that the dancefloor was filled with people screaming, stomping and dancing even when the dj had already shut his record case? And how many times have top class players like Carl Craig, DJ Sneak and Derrick May not returned to Ghent, only because of the sheer joy of playing on 10 Days Off? sonstiges	Rascal&Klone biography: Steve Ward (Rascal) and Greg Lomas (Klone) met in 1994 at Kenilworth’s legendary ‘Euro Dizzy’ rave partys. Klone was the live P.A. and Rascal the resident DJ. Rascal has been DJing since the age of eleven, growing up on diet of early electro and hip hop. Klone started producing at the early age of ten, growing up with a musical family - his father a session drummer for Decca recordings in the 60s & 70s and his Uncle producer for Bad Manners and many of the early 80s Coventry Ska bands. From then on the two combined their skills - appearing as a DJ duo and working together in the studio. This led to their first release as Rascal and Klone on their own label, the now defunct ‘Project F80 Recordings’ pressed in small quantities and distributed from the boots of their mates' cars. Although lasting for only three releases, Project F80 enabled them to gather enough funds together to revamp their studio and spend some serious time on their sound. Relying purely on feedback from Dubplates and DATs given to DJs, Rascal and Klone felt that their sound was starting to make an impact. In 1999 their track ‘Twister’ was licensed to Moving Shadow for their ’Killa Bites’ compilation. In 2000 they made their full debut for the label with the highly acclaimed “Phoenix EP” (MSX004) scoring top marks in reviews and with many of the DJs. This followed with their single on Audio Couture ‘Get Wild’/’Winner Takes All’ (AC042) which went on to be liscensed to the game ‘Grand Theft Auto 3’ and the Moving Shadow compilation ’01.1’. Rascal and Klone were then asked to compile and mix CDs such as ‘Atmospheric Drum and Bass Vol.6’ and an Audio Couture compilation for Knowledge magazine cover CD and asked to remix tracks for downtempo label ‘Kingsize Records’. In 2001 they went on to secure deals with ‘Allied’ (a division of Dune), ‘Killerhertz’ (a division of Ram), ‘Emotif’, and more importantly ‘Urban Takeover’ - watch this space……. With releases on Urban Takeover, Shakedown, Allied, Emotif and Moving Shadow, these guys are not to be missed. Their tracks are currently receiving support from DJs such as Andy C and Ed Rush & Optical and you'd be well advised to keep a close eye on them as DJs and producers. (Quelle: Urban Takeover Website)
