sonstiges	Barem Mauricio Barembuem (aka Barem) perfectly personifies the new breed of electronic musician who has grown up in the digital age, using intuitive software programs like Reason and Ableton to spontaneously express ideas and emotions. Online distribution has also made it possible for them to reach out and connect with audiences across the globe, no matter where they are - Buenos Aires for example, where Barem grew up amid the hustle and bustle of a city on the edge. His teenage years were spent playing blues and rock guitar in bands but this always meant compromise and he needed something more than that – something that would allow a purer form of self expression. At the time it was hard to hear good dance music in Argentina apart from one or two tracks that crossed over into the commercial clubs he sometimes visited with friends but that was enough to whet his appetite and he immediately got wrapped up in the beats, connecting with the music on a deeper level. He started exploring the electronic medium and became fascinated by how some DJs could apply their own peronal vision to the music, elevating it to an art form. This was exactly the inspiration he needed and he was soon experimenting with loops on his laptop, and buying records (7th City, Plus8, Perlon, Spectral and of course Minus) to dj with. However, deciding to become a techno producer/DJ in Buenos Aires was easier said than done. The equipment was very expensive and gigs were few and far between. It was very frustrating and he was close to quitting a few times but he found the right people at the right time and the solid advice they gave kept him motivated and focussed on his goal. It was to be a defining moment and from that point on his induction into the scene was fast and frenetic. He released the Kleine EP on the free net label Unfoundsound in July 2005 not really knowing what to expect but something clicked, with the track Suki in particular (rereleased on vinyl by Phonocult two years later) grabbing the attention of many well known DJs. He soon made the step up to Foundsound (Unfoundsound's parent label) and released his first vinyl EP Campo Madness in May 2006 consolidating his position as a fresh, emerging talent. His relationship with Minus began in November 2005 when he met Richie Hawtin in Buenos Aires who also showed a lot of interest in his work and encouraged him to submit some demos, one of which – Opal – appeared on the Min2Max LP to more critical acclaim. Needless to say, that was followed by a period of non-stop touring in the US and Europe as word got around and demand for his live performance grew. Then at the end of 2007, the release of his superb debut EP for Minus - Never Better Than Late – really cemented his strong personal and artistic connection with the label, representing another major achievement in his short but intense journey so far. Listening to the Minus EP, it’s clear he concentrates most energy into creating the powerful basslines that define his sound. His expansive use of reverb and delay on tracks like Then They… and So Serial creates a massive space for the subtle percussive elements to skip and snake while distant, sometimes eerie melodies often occur on a random, secondary level as a result of these interacting elements. A relentless music collector, accumulating diverse material ranging from house to synth-pop, in 1996, he quickly took up behind the turntables, and at only 15 years old, he began to explore the techno soundscape and soon after started playing nightclubs in his home country. Jorge began a most accomplished residency at "El Sótano", one of the historically premier influential clubs of the Argentinean underground, working there for three seasons, and developing an exquisite recipe for techno and house music. Jorge’s hard work, dedication, and love for music aids his consistent growth as a DJ, and as a producer. His successful debut release in 2005, “Frozen”, came out on the Argentine net label Igloo, and led him to M-NUS, Mupa, Dumb Unit, Telegraph and Esperanza. sonstiges	Jay Shepheard (Retrofit, Compost, Buzzin' Fly) Having just completed his first tour of Australia, recently released records on Buzzin Fly, Dirt Crew and Compost Black Label, launched his own new label project, and signed up with the new Secretsundaze booking agency, 2010 sees a strong start for Jay Shepheard! Following a long background in music from playing in high school bands to working in music PR and several years working at UK online music store Juno, Jay Shepheard first arrived on the scene in 2007 with the release of his debut EP "Black Label #19" on Compost. Strong DJ support for the EP gave Jay a good profile straight off the bat, which was built upon nicely with the follow-up EPs "Black Label 28", released in December 07 and "Black Label 34" in June 08. These first EPs received critical acclaim from DJs, music lovers and the press alike and earned Jay a nomination for Best Deep House act of 2007 in the Beatport Music Awards. Now, over two years since the debut, Jay Shepheard is firmly established as a leading player in the new wave of electronic music. In 2008 and 2009 Jay has been branching out from his home label at Compost to release original productions and remixes on high profile labels including Diynamic, Four:Twenty, Glimpse and Juno. These releases have consistently found thier way into the best seller lists of all the major stores as well as the charts of A list DJs. The most recent release on Compost Black Label (out Nov 09) earning a number 1 chart position from Steve Bug. Moving into 2010 Jay launches his own label imprint Retrofit. With an ear for the past and an eye on the future the label will marry classic electronic musical themes of acid house, disco, vintage techno and anything in between with current dance floor sound and concepts. The first release, a 4 tracker from Jay, is out Febuary 2010 with some hot collaborations to follow later in the year. Outside of the studio Jay has also built a reputation in the booth, playing both DJ and live sets all over Europe in some of the leading venues including Fabric in London, Goa in Madrid, Watergate in Berlin and Monza in Frankfurt to name just a few. August präsentieren wir euch mit seiner allerersten offiziellen Label Night in Tirol, das absolut schillerndste und vielfältigste Techno Label Deutschlands. INTERNATIONAL DEEJAY GIGOLO RECORDS 1996 von DJ HELL gegründet, hat INTERNATIONAL DEEJAY GIGOLO RECORDS seit dieser Zeit weit über 200 Releases aus den Pressen gestampft. Elektronik Künstler wie Christopher Just, David Carretta, Huntemann, Makossa & Megablast, Peter Kruder, Oliver Ton, Digitaria, Miss Kittin & The Hacker und viele viele mehr, produzieren unter dem Dach diese Labels. Es ist als schon eine kleine Sensation und spricht einmal mehr für DJ HELLs innovativen Geist, dass er sein „Baby" in diese Nacht „KONZEPT" anvertraut. Wir wüssten das nicht zu würdigen und wären nicht „KONZEPT", hätten wir nicht speziell für diese Party auch eine sehr spezielle Location gesucht und gefunden. Specials/Infos	Werden uns die Jungs von der SNUFF CREW im August mal eben einfach so wegschnupfen? Wird das mysteriöse Duo seine Identität jemals preisgeben? Hinter welchen Masken werden sie ihre Gesichter wohl bei hochsommerlichen Temperaturen verbergen? Ist die Oldschool die neue Newschool? Fragen über Fragen aber eins ist klar - bei den COMPOST BLACK LABEL SESSIONS im August geht’s natürlich wie immer um HOUSE und unabhängig davon, wie die Antworten zu obigen Fragen auch immer ausfallen werden – die SNUFF CREW steht für jackin’ HOUSE wie er in den achtzigern von CHICAGO aus die Welt eroberte. Das ist reduziert, da fiepts und zwitscherts, da schnalzen die Snares und die schwingenden Basslines sind ganz weit vorne – Bodymusic, die im Gegensatz zur Identität ihrer Schöpfer nicht lange im Verborgenen blieb. 2008 gab die SNUFF CREW ihr Debut mit der GOD EP auf MARCO PASSARANI’S Label NATURE, gefolgt von gefeierten Releases auf PLAYHOUSE, RUSH HOUR und natürlich auf DJ HELL’s GIGOLO Imprint u.a. mit der massiven Maxi BERGHAIN. Den unbändigen (oder bayrisch: umbandigen) creativen Flow der beiden unterstreichen auch deren Remixes - u.a. für STEFANO E BENE’s Italodiscoschieber WHY YOUR LOVE auf unserem brandneuen Outlet COMPOST DISCO. Vor kurzem haben die Jungs mit dem eigenen Vinyllabel SNUFF TRAX sogar noch einen draufgelegt – one to watch out for. Doch zurück in den Club - die SNUFF CREW wird für uns Live performen, was die beiden übrigens auch regelmäßig im Berghain tun und im Anschluss gibt’s dann quasi die Kür in Form eines DJ-Sets. Unterstützung bekommen die beiden von BLACK LABEL SESSIONS Resident THOMAS HERB.
