Scuba is the production and DJ alias of Paul Rose, curator of Hotflush Recordings, one of the original dubstep labels which released some of the most important tracks of the genre's formative period and continues to be a source of constant originality to date.
Originally from London, Scuba relocated to Berlin in 2007, a move which (according to some) influenced his critically acclaimed debut album, A Mutual Antipathy (2008).
More recently he has been busy remixing artists including Fever Ray and Red Snapper, releasing fresh material on Hotflush and developing the SCB name with a seminal mix for the MNML SSGS blog.
In addition to label and production duties, he also runs the massively successful SUB:STANCE night at Berlin's techno Mecca, Berghain.
Kenneth James Gibson is a man of many personas. Keeping up with him can be a time consuming, yet rewarding venture into sound. As soon as you think you know him and can grasp what's going on, he puts on yet another mask and becomes something else. Always a surprise and never a let down, he gives us what we want but don't expect. A rare stone in today's musical climate, Ken is rolling and collects no moss.
When Kenneth isn't in the studio reeking havoc on his neighbors, he is touring the world playing his music for the crazy kids late at night. Ken lives in Los Angeles, California and co-runs the label Adjunct, part of the Kompakt family. Adjunct is a forward thinking techno and house label releasing such artists as Mikael Stavostrand, Dilo and Gurtz, Mathias Schaffhauser, Sutekh, Franco Cinelli, Kit Clayton, Peter F. Spiess and many more.
Freu mich schon auf die neue Scuba-EP auf Hotflush (Release: 19. Oktober).

* '...an inspiring and exceptional mix...' * '...the best techno mix I've heard in ages...' * '...SCB has just re-set the standard...' * '...the distillation of everything that is great about electronic music in 2009...' * '...an absolute classic. Probably Scuba/SCB's tightest mix yet...'
These are just a few of the reactions to the latest mix from SCB, the new techno / house project from Hotflush founder Paul Rose aka SCUBA.
As part of the series of remixes from his Scuba album 'A Mutual Antipathy', Paul Rose launched SCB, a project dedicated exclusively to house and techno. The “SCB edit” of Hard Boiled was acclaimed by some as one of the best tracks of 2008 and has now been followed up by this mix for the mnml ssgs blog, intended to illustrate the SCB sound in more detail.
